Thanks. It's weird that there doesn't seem to be any feedback for issuing the order.
Why do you all keep saying this when it's simply not true? As other have pointed out, all that does it order your troops to crowd behind the siege machine, not USE the machine.
Nah, you're right. It doesn't give any feedback because it doesn't actually work, just orders your troops to stand like a flock of sheep behind the siege machine getting rained on by arrows and rocks. Best guess is that it's impossible and its just another thing to add to the list of dev failures. Thank god for community mods or the game would be a flop.
never change orders in a siege battle if are not a very experienced player.
After having placed the siege engines the way i want (fire mangonel and ballistas) i press 0 to select all troops, then i press f6 to deactivate all automatic commands,
then i press f1 f1 to place all my formations in one spot
while still having all the troops selected i click on every siege equipment with the cogwheel icon to remove the troops from them (they are visually represented at this point but will get removed once clicked)
once all the equipment is empty i place one 4-5 people formation made out of my companions next to each of the siege weapons (mangonels trebuchets ballistas)
and then place deploy, once the battle starts the troops closest to it man the siege equipment. i usually walk towards the walls to bait the enemies into clumping up for better hits. when the ammo is depleted i retreat and do it again. can win sieges with 0 losses that way.
I dont know what all the people whos troops dont use the siege equipment are doing wrong, but it 100% works, and delegate command is not necessary for it to work at all.
Seems this topic is actually a necro from 2 years ago.
