Combat not very fun?
Is it just me or is the combat in this game just not very satisfying? Fights are sluggish and getting hit feels unfair half the time. Hits that seem like they should connect don't, or they get 99% of the way through, only to get interrupted by a rock to the leg. Horse combat is just a chore and would be way less fun than infantry, if walking across the battlefield didn't take an hour.

Warband was low budget jank and definitely not a game I'd recommend for its combat, but I find myself regularly thinking about playing that instead. Bannerlord's combat to me just feels like a degraded imitation Warband's.

- Should note that I play exclusively on max damage/AI in both games. I haven't experimented much with other difficulties in Bannerlord.

Also, the 1st person camera is awful and makes you feel like you're putting yourself at a massive disadvantage just to feel more immersed. I never play games like this in 3rd person, even when given the option. But in Bannerlord, it's a serious struggle not to press R whenever I'm in combat.

As your skills and gear improve the combat gets better. I can't speak to the 1st person vs 3rd person because I never play games that don't have a 3rd person option. Until games figure out how to make peripheral vision a thing, I am strictly a 3rd person kinda guy. I don't need to limit my field of view to find immersion.

you should play with lower mainchar dmg in difficult settings, to have more time (hp) lerning combat in batlle. higher fighting skills are important like 1h-weapon and walking/riding.

the first time i only could use a spear on a horseback.
i needed 100 hours to use a 1h weapon on horseback. most weapons are simple to short.

and i needed 300 hours to use any 2h weapon. they are very slow and mostly worthless when fighting very close or no room to use like in sieges.

2h is king in open field battle.

I have always felt this as well, Warband is still my most played game. I play Bannerlord every now and then but only singleplayer. Is still fun I enjoy all directional combat games but never felt right compared to Warband.

I enjoy the combat of Bannerlord very much!

It is actally the reason to play this game.

Sure there are lot of things to be improved, balanced, there are different bugs, but the Developers Team still working on.

Especially at the beginning it is very funny to fight!
My hero use to travel for very long time alone wining tournaments, fighting bandits and so improves his combat and movement skills.

He starts as a mounted archer with 2 bound of arrows, after he finds a good equipment he changes to the lancer on horseback.

Later on with dedicated athletics skill he kills even big groups of looters solo with 1h or 2h weapon as an infanterist. A good shield and high athletics and good 1 H skill even by usage of 2 H weapon is a wonderfull advantage! For your hero and for his troops.

Huge battle looks very impressive, but they are not as interesting for me personally. They all are very similar. But I still hope there comes some improvement too.

And you dont have to fight them all, it is good possible to fight only battles which seem to be interesting for you and let autoresolve others.

Combat is actually the best part of the game

I second that, frankly there's not much else than combat in this game as diplo's non-existent.

Imagine thinking this game's combat is deep.

It'd be like saying tic-tac-toe meta is deep.
