Afaik it's about the distance of the strike. You want to hit them with the axe head, not the shaft. So come down to your timing I guess.

Even if im fighting at the length of the axe still cant get a kill

Well if you a fresh stick out of the box and start swing at enemies with an axe don't expect one hit kills.

Try to use 1h and the shield. It is more userfriendly, at least at the beginning.
And invest enough points in the athletics and keep moving.
High athletics it is the mother of each melee fight. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVqOrFc80TQ

there are slow 2h axe with 70 speed and fast with 90 speed.
and higher 2h skill give + speed.

you have to lern using slow 2h axes and improve your skill.

Weapons have different hitboxes, find one you like to use and roll with it. I use long executioner axe and getting a hit not any different from any other weapon.

The axes are fine, both compared to Warband and in general. It's blocking that is somehow strange here compared to the previous game. Perhaps axes are not the most "meta" weapon and takes /some/ practice, but they are fine. Then again, if you prefer to just rage and uninstall then I'm not sure what you expect anyone to tell you.

I will look more closer at the speed an try one handed axes as well

2H Axe is a bit dangerous to use if you fight against highly skilled enemies. But check weapon length is very important for you to gauge how to strike. Best way to get used to it is to go to Battanian or Sturgian arenas and tournaments and practice.

you also need high skills in 2h for that to happen.

If you're just starting out it isnt gonna happen.
