Bow can't be used on horseback

Lords and Ladies,

I put quite a bit of money in a cool bow but it turns out it can't be used on horseback, but here's the thing : it didn't mention that in the bow properties... except when I'm viewing it from a companion's point of view.

Am I missing something or did the game punk me?

can't use longbows on horseback. i think there is a perk that allows it though.
is there a little crossed out horse head on it, or is it just red like you can't equip it at all..?

Yes I'm aware of some bows not usable on horsebacks but check this out :

In my inventory it doesn't say :

But when I see it from a companion's POV it does say :

I think i can confirm this issue. I've just checked the Noble Long Bow, which by default cannot be used on horseback:

- My main character has the 225 bow talent Horse Master and can use it on horseback. For them it doesn't show the icon but this i can understand (As they can actually use it on horseback).
- Two of my other companions can equip the bow, but don't have the Horse Master talent. Yet it doesn't show the icon for them, which is incorrect.
- My last companion doesn't have sufficient bow skill to equip the bow at all. Yet they can see the icon indicating it cannot be used on horseback.

Your screenshots seem to indicate the same issue: The companion that cannot equip the bow at all sees the icon, whereas the other characters can't. Seems like a clear bug that you'll want to report.

Ok, found the issue i think. The bow tree has two talents:

- The 100 skill talent "Mounted Archery", which grants 30% increased accuracy.
- The 225 skill talent "Horse Master", which allows a character to use all bows on horseback.

If a character has the 100 skill talent "Mounted Archery", the horseback icon is no longer displayed when viewing the bow. So i assume someone at Taleworlds messed up the skill check for that icon, and wired it to the wrong skill.

Yep, I can confirm that I have the lvl 100 Mounted Archery skill..
That would also explain why I can't see the restriction icon and not my followers.

There is a perk that you can use any bow on horseback

Yeah you need a minimum of 225 bow skill to access the perk allowing you to use all bows on horseback (bottom perk) I had equipped all my companions with noble longbows and hadn't realized until I used a mod that allowed me to play their characters after death/knock-out. I think the same is for xbows.

No, I was aware it's like warband, some bows can't be used on horseback.

The game fcked me over on this one, they made the horseback restriction icon disappear when I picked a certain mounted archery perk, except it wasn't the one that was supposed to make that icon disappear.

I'm very surprised this wasn't fixed years and years after early access.
