Any way to change main character/heir?

My main character is dead, I wanted to play as one of my children but theyre not old enough to inherit the kingdom. Why am I forced to choose someone older as the permanent heir/main character?

Are there any mods that allow to switch characters to one of your family members when they're old enough?

In 1.1 you can retire the clan leader and select a new one to take over. But the character still need to be 18 years old.
