Is the base game (no mods) relatively bug free?

I had a dream I was playing Bannerlord and now I really want to play it, however I'm seeing a lot of bug reports and reviews about bugs. I don't like mods of any kind and am satisfied with what the base game offers, but is it still buggy? Almost any kind of bug puts me off, but I'm willing to overlook most small bugs if there are no big ones.

117 hours so far, no glitches or bugs, I only had to close the exe because of infinite loading screen after an arena fight for one time. Btw. I play with mods. I rly like the game although it could have some more content, so I'm hoping for DLCs in the future.

It's pretty stable now. I've not had any bugs whatsoever since I started playing a lightly modded playthrough on 1.0.2, even after the game updated to 1.0.3. Seems to be all debugged.

Indeed the game is largely bugfree , however a reminder please, you are going to play a mountnblade game, its not your regular western dev or eastern dev ( europe ) game, its a genre in and of itself.


i dont recommend you play the campaign , and please expect lackluster endgame so to speak ( loose term ) .

Those are the reasons I didn't buy the game sooner, but I played all previous Mount and Blades, even the first one. Endgame is a pain, but in all previous games I barely got past midgame, so I think I'm good

Problem with this game is even without mods.....your save games will randomly fail to load and you loose everything. It's still Alpha....

The biggest problem I have seen is text failing to load with bandits giving error messages and some scenery and props floating off the ground. Otherwise the game runs fine and fairly bug free.

The achievements don't work which really pisses me off, but the game works fine for me pretty much.

Game is quite playable and problem free. But I play mainline without mods. Your mileage may vary.

i think its pretty smooth the only common one for me is a dude geting stuck in the wall during a siege but its not a big deal if you wait hell often die or just attack retreat and attack again

A couple bugs I found are you can lose troop exp when enemies retreat. Bannerlordperks website also shows some of the perks are not working as intended.

Some battles with small parties against mountain bandits will say something like "TEXT_NOT_FOUND". Some cities at night have a blue empty place holder mesh.

There are a couple sieges where troops will get stuck into the walls.

Some quests have bugs like the family feud if you take that guy he uses up a companion slot so you can lose a companion from being over capacity, also if you do a tournament it says this guy gets knocked out and you lose the quest.

Beyond that there are bugs that are not real bugs but kind of intent.

Some of the troops are very poorly balanced, like the Battanian horsemen is very weak compared to the Khan's Guard, there are balance issues. Some of the way kingdom tribute works, workshops and recruiting clans technically works but needs rebalancing.

Overall it is a great game and every patch/update this list of bugs becomes smaller. For the most part you could abstract these bugs to something like medieval plague lol, you know sometimes things just go wrong in life you could chalk up bugs to that or whatever.

As someone who primarily plays modded, the bugs and crashes are largely more from mods, unmodded hasn't given me any issues.

I think the only thing that's an issue for me for the base game is this DLSS thing where highlights are bugged out but it might be my drivers?

[PS] Fixed a bug that caused a save to get corrupted when overwriting save files. Old saves might still be corrupted when overwriting (this includes auto-save), so make sure to create a new save file (choose "save as") for any existing saves that you want to safeguard.

Yes vanilla is fun for 100-200+ hours, than you may want to mod just because you experience more fun things to try
