Companions take troops from garrison
As the title implies whenever I assign my companion to lead his own party, they will try to fill their ranks with troops from my town garrisons. Just to be clear, this is not a food or loyalty issue, both are stable and I have watched my companion go into town and then saw the exact troops in their party that were missing from the garrison. Does anyone know if there is a fix or if this has even been addressed by the Devs, as I've found posts going back a year or more claiming to have the same issue.

this issue WAS SUPER common as u say, a year or so ago.

It was fixed within a month.

I have not seen it since (and I played 1.0.3 the current branch, and am on 1.1.0 Beta now)

If it is still happening (and again, I havent seen it.. and I have a few hundreds hours in those two patches) It is rare.

What other things are going on? U say food not an issue. U say loyalty not an issue. Is there anything other that can be odd?
Your companion was recruited from THAT fiefs former town (i.e. U marry svana, she is Goduns clan, they owned tyal. Is it svana your wife taking troops from your new fief Tyal? etc)

just trying to trouble shoot it.

but yeah. Was super common long ago. has been gone for a long time as far as I know.

You say that until your 200+ Elite town garrison is being picked clean by incompetent bots that then go on to get massacred and captured. Thus losing the entire stack and all your elite troops.

The companion I was using for this was Nathanos, the Brother of your character, with you at the start of the game, so I don't think your example applies. I have tried other companions though with the same results. I'm on the current patch and I can't determine anything unusual.

exactly.

And it's even worse. you stack nice max level troops in your garrisons for protection.

Your companion takes them over and over again. he is constantly recruited into AI army's.
When they take over fiefs, he tends to donate more of his troops than anyone else.. And yeah, their your top tier max troops.

Even worse when you are king. Your companion takes all your to tier troops from garrisons, is recruited to ai armys. they take a fief. they do not donate anything. NOT one.. because it is "the players' fief. your companion fills it up..
then you arent up for vote, and the fief goes to some scrub. who wont protect it. and the fief is lost next week, along with your 85 donated tier 5-6 troops.

awesome

that is odd then. I dont tend to use him. (I like him as governor and smith).

I wonder if it is mainly the siblings (I rarely give them a party. they are my first governors/smithers/traders)

They get massacred with low tier troops for sure. And captured/resting after that. While I need them in MY army with elite troops on the frontlines. Why the heck would I want elite troops chilling in the garnison during the war?? I train them for a good damn reason.
And during action time I can't afford running back and forth myself babysitting my underlings by making sure they bring good troops for the cause. I have a war to win, armies to defeat etc, and I need those soldiers, not common rabble (other lords would bring plenty for sure, but it is my elite force that provides advantage)

That was a good suggestion so I gave that a go. Didn't use anyone related to me or anyone else in my family by blood or marriage. Just a random companion, that is not from the culture of the towns I own. Still the same, walks right into my town and takes troops.

The sole thought of my braindead siblings and companions taking my tier 6 stock sends shivers down my spine

more companion ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ,lately companions as of beta 1.1.0.1xxxx
.take troops from garrison
.take troops from garrison AND deposit more than max garrison capacity, overwhelming garrison capacity if you have a large town and a decently developed character to affect garrison capacity this is a huge ♥♥♥♥♥♥ since the food consumption is already precarious
.take troops from garrison and deposits utter trash all kinds of cultures t5 archers from aserai t4 from empire t3 battanian cavalry etc etc. all kinds of utter ♥♥♥♥♥ combinations
.take troops from garrison and sometimes leaving only recruits

Well I am out of suggestions. But I will say I had 2-3 campaigns in 1.0.3 (main branch) and played them to 15-25 years. Never saw it.

Will also say in 1.1.0 (where there are new bugs.. ugh). I did a few campaigns as well. 20 years to 35 years.

My last campaign I was battania, Had numerous companion partys (Liena sister in law, Svana sister in law, a daughter who was battania). And had 9 towns (I was solo.. not a kingdom.. working on a trade theory). And had my towns for decades. I have minor OCD so like to keep ONLY max troops there, and a set amount.. lol I had 325 dudes in all my towns. and they were all roughly 50 fian champs. 50 cavalry champs (cats and Khans), and a mix of archers/melee depending on what culture they were.

The key issue is 35 year campaign, MULTIPLE towns. and a few different companion party leaders. And not once did anyone drop my 325 down (I would have noticed )>

The only possibility for it to happen is my "staging town" of marunath, it tended to have 500 troops all max or being maxed.. and was used to "fill " my other towns (told ya.. I got minor ocd lol)
so it is possible someone stole from there, but I didnt notice.

I'm out of suggestions. I hope this bug isnt going to come back and be more prevalent like before.

~cheers

With great sorrow, it seems I have no choice but to start a new campaign. Thank you for the responses though, and at least there is the reassurance that at the very least this has been addressed.
