If the mod give the enemy lords the same benefit, then it wouldn't be like you cheating right? -)
Sturgians took it pretty quickly and I was pleased to see that: food stocks remained pretty low (they didn't magically get a gigantic "default" food allotment) and loyalty was still pretty low too (16 ish). So I resumed.
Presently at Clan Tier 3 or 4 (party size is 166 and big bro is about Steward 260 ish). Most of my party are elites (90 ish Sturgian spears; 40 ish Imperial Equite; the rest Fians and a handful of Imperial archers I recruited to top up to my party size limit of 166).
Weird thing though: I've had ~40 to 45 Imperial Equites for literally YEARS and they just do not seem to be gaining experience. I almost think it is a bug.
Anyway, plan is to take Epicrotea as an independent non-Kingdom then stabilize things there and ditch a bunch of troops. If the vanilla game will not give me a capacity to have a "Hideout" where I can stockpile troops then I'll use this method instead. I'd like to have 1000 to 2000 troops before I proceed with hostilities against anyone other than bandits, but I'd settle for 600. Not sure how many troops you can stuff into a town, but I guess I'll find out.
Yes.
You can still take or give troops to clan parties in all release version including beta.
so perks that affect prisoner conversion help.
Thanks to all who corrected me. My bad.
I'm not in game, so am not looking at it to CONFIRM what I "remember" (incorrectly).
But I think I got confused with Putting troops into Dungeons and being able to pull them out (not your dungeons... OTHERS). And for some reason thought that meant you couldnt do it with PARTIES (though tbh I still kinda remember NOT being able to take troops from my companion parties. I must be remembering wrong)
As to the "dont do it in a town" that was a SECOND mistake lmao. Sorry.
That was regarding the "Donate armor for xp" perk. When it first came out, u could ONLY leave armor or weapons on the field of battle. Once they were in your inventory they could NOT be donated for xp.
Recently (i dunno when) they made it so you can take that garbage gear you didnt donate yet, and DONATE it to nothing (throw it away) and DO NOT have to do it from a "battle summary" screen. You could do it at any time. (great way to get more xp for troops that needed more than one level... i.e. Can only take 3k xp now.. but u have 20k xp of items. U donate 3k. Close the battle screen. Level them up. Then go back, do another 3k.. if u can.. give em MORE levels etc).
Anyway, That is the one that i experienced (by mistake, more than once). and forget that if you are IN A TOWN, u cant just click on the Item screen, and dump items. They will disappear but you dont get xp.
At least that's how it was when I messed up a few weeks ago.
Sorry for confusion.
Noice: charm
. . . Okay, so forming parties does sound pretty danged useful!
Depends how you play the game, as a try hard noob, or have some balls
for example I play with Companions and Lords dying in battle permanently
so if you rely on a companion for something, that is going to bite you on the butt when he dies
also if you play with death from old age, that can also happen
Also if you play with companions and depend on your brother like a noob, this now limits him to remaining in your party, so if you wanted him to lead his own party or govern a town or run a caravan or alley or whatever, now you don't have that flexibility, because you need him while he lives, to be attached at the hip to you
if you want a real challenge play sandbox and don't use companions
As you are most likely aware, MOST of what you ask/say is true. And most of the Replies you get from MOST of us... are also true. I'm only bringing it up, because lots in this thread are "mostly true" lol. Lots of "is this true?" is based on PLAYSTYLE. <----
The reality is (as has been said elsewhere many many times)... The game doesn't really "pigeon hole you" into doing things ONLY "this way" or only "That way".
Companion parties CAN be good. They can also be worthless. (in other words NOT needed.. at all).
This goes for most things. (should I keep engineer job,, should I give it? That depends. etc)
1- I always take all the +5 to party size perks if I can get them. This can take your party from 200... to 230? roughly.. Maybe 220. I dunno. But I tend to use my parties to also work as a Training facility. I max them.. then max the troops. and keep funneling MAX level troops into garrisons as defenders.. then add MORE low tier troops to party.. and do it again. For me, I like more.
2- The leadership perk (at end of tree) is super super super good. And since MOST people conquering map will be shooting for Max charm ASAP, it costs almost nothing to go for leadership max too. (you already have social at 9 or 10). This is maybe not "needed" but helps.
3-- how does it help? it makes you slower? Well, not too much slower.. and speed has been debated to death. Speed in theory is incredible. but no matter how slow or fast you are (80 dudes, no prisoners, minimal food, all on horse etc). there is usually someone faster. and The dudes you CAN catch, might be too strong to catch. So for me, even though speed is great. I don't try to maximize speed.
Tons of troops help you when it comes to "man this AI is dumb". You walking around with 300 troops of tier 5-6. can REALLY affect the map a lot. Far far far more than u can with a party of 150. You can basically dictate almost any siege or combat in the game. Some HUGE HUGE armys (1200-2500) might be out of your range. But if you had 400 dudes in party. AND A COMPANION party of 200.. in your own private army... they might not be.
You no longer have to hope "Man, I hope simir takes his army of 14 lords, and comes to help defend Tyal". You can do it on your own.
And this is far far far far far more important than it seems. you destroying a large army, cripples enemy who now need make NEW army (with mostly recruits).. which is XP Food for your ally lords... and SImir and his scrubs can now HOPEFULLY take Makeb. Etc
Does everyone like large parties? nope. is it needed? nope.
Do some real smart people in forums disagree with my theory? Of course.
But for me, (and most of my friends from game). Having a large party/army makes the game MUCH quicker, since the AI allies are usually quite dumb in where they attack or defend. or even IF they attack or defend
Hey Ruffio, you've got it all wrong. When you are at war the enemy faction has upwards of 50 lords to lead against you. They recruit troops so fast it is basically impossible to have any kind of attrition war or win by using sensible tactics. It is just an endless horde of 1000+ armies coming at you.
I'm not interested in spending hundreds of hours per playthrough to get myself 50 vassals to compete with them. Been there, done that. many times.
I want to get my finances in order so I can afford to lead an army of 1000+ (not easy, you're talking 5k per day at least) and then go to war with many 1000 vs 1000 battles to enjoy.
There is nothing else to do in the game besides fight big battles. If you consider this cheating that's up to you.
You said it yourself, you are not interested in put in the hard work -)
If you do 1k vs 1k battles every day, you have no issues with your "finances", because the loot etc will cover that big time.
You're coming across as a bit self righteous and annoying. I'll still give you the benefit of the doubt. I have played this franchise since the first ever release of M&B. Before Steam, before warband. I have children to look after, a woman to attend to, work to be done.
I'm not interested in spending hundreds of hours grinding the game mechanics which are lacklustre at best. I'm interested in using Bannerlord as the only thing it is good for, a battle simulator with a very basic territory and economic element.
For whatever reason you have decided to try and make me feel that I am cheating for increasing the max party size right from the start. Can you explain your motive here? What right do you have to define how another person enjoys a game?
