Anybody able to create a mod to remove rocks from bandits?
Tired of feeling like I'm getting 100 stones thrown at me, would really appreciate if someone could do this, I did try the "workshop discussions" so I thought I'd try here as a last resort, thank you for anyone that is willing to do this.

I am usually not the type of "l2p" guy, but I honest to god don't understand why people have trouble with those rocks. Just keep your distance and use a ranged weapon, or just start recruiting a party a little faster.

They used to hit like a truck in the beginning of early access and that might be why they got some sort of meme status. But their damage is nerfed quite extensively since then. The staggering is still the annoying part, I get that, but for that --> ranged weapon, or don't try to solo too much of them.

In answer to the topic at hand, it's easily moddable as it's just a matter of altering their equipment sets in bandits.xml. If it's not out there yet, it's easily made.

l2p?, well when we're starting out and we run out of arrows and our peasants ain't good enough to stand up to them, we have to melee them on our horse which they have the advantage, not to mention we only have limited arrows that's when they become an issue for me personally, plus nothing wrong with asking someone to help fix the problem I'm having, you still get to play with them chucking unlimited rocks at you.

I actually mentioned "l2p" as a disclaimer, that this is exactly NOT what I meant to say, but I can see now I was a little unclear about that. I just wanted to add that I don't get why people are bothered by them. Looters aren't meant to be so easily solo'd on horseback melee. On a side note, I just checked and rocks have a stack amount of 14. They do run out after a while.

When your guys attack, make sure to outrun them and draw the attention of the group of looters. Stay close enough but don't try to attack them, just keep up your shield or dodge their rocks, and make about half of them follow you. Your troops should be able to handle the other half, and you can attack the rest of them in the back while your troops are fighting them.

If you want to solo them for a bit longer, just get two stacks of arrows and keep your distance. Check when they follow you, which are the ones throwing rocks (they usually end up on the right of the group when you circle them counter-clockwise) and try to pick them off first.

That said, again, it's easily moddable. But I think it's a lot more satisfying learning how to tackle the problem.

I do attempt to draw half if not most away so my group can take care of them, it just seems like my dudes just suck in general, 14 rocks per peasant feels like quite a bit, anyway once I run out of arrows and my groups dead I'm forced to engage in melee, at that point I need to get very lucky and hope they run out of rocks or they'll kill me with their pokey pitchforks, been dealing with this for a while, I either end up not playing because to me it's not satisfying or I just deal with it and muster a bigger party, either way I personally would find it more fun if they was gone or at least limited to 1-2 rocks.

player can have 3 stack of arrows, its over 60. if that is not enough, nothing will be.
plus player always can press tab and retreat, then come back to same group and continue fight with replenished ammo and killed enemies will stay down.

There's no way an equal amount of recruits can't deal with looters, especially when you do the tactic mentioned above so that they take on the looters in small groups at a time. You might still lose a few troops, but there's no way you can lose that fight, unless you intentionally fight a much larger amount of looters than you have troops.

I normally keep a sword, shield, bow and then arrows

generally I don't however that's not the issue, I prefer not to have 12 rocks per person being thrown at me, if there's 10 chasing me thats 120 rocks I have to deal with...

Wut?

Rocks are so easy to avoid.

Strafe. Go forward and left or right at the same time. Change directions occasionally. Even Fian Champions can be beat 1v1 that way. The AI is terrible at leading shots.

Terrible?, if I'm sitting (which I'm not) they hit every time, however yes I can move forward and backwards, left and right and they will miss.

Didn't know I had to justify myself to all you people that I'd rather have fun not to deal with rocks, however I will end it here as no more responses will be given, if someone does great, however if you all want to argue and be petty that's fine too, all I'm asking for is for someone to be kind enough to do so, that's it, if you cannot do that then why are you even here?, I'm not asking for a solution or what to do, I'm simply asking for a simple mod.

If you cannot handle looters, then you need to be playing something else. Maybe a game with unicorns and puppies.
StoleMyCoconut Dec 14, 2022 @ 12:17pm
You can do it yourself though shouldn't be to hard it's one of the npc files in native or sandboxcore and download notepad ++ to properly modify the files and then save it but do make a back up of the files. Simply delete the rocks part from the looters npc make sure to take the complete line with itemx blablabla.

It's a minor patch and is the non recommended way therefor no one will really make it as others rather use mods like Warlord branche or calradia expanded. As these mods will just overwrite the looters lol
This is a simple solution.

Just ignore the rest though staak discussions for this game is toxic rather use reddit. They even mass reported me for posting one of my coolest pictures if not the coolest and even letting people know how they can do the same. Including the moderators which actually gave me a warning lmao.
