Why does my 800-soldier army only spawn 100 soldiers during a siege?
As said in the title, i just attacked a 700 man settlement with a 800 man army, and i got about 100 men while the defenders got somewhere about 200 to 250. How is that fair, or is there something i can do to even the odds?

Secondly, why does the garrison not die when i starve them out? The millitia dies but not the garrison (or the other way around).

Thanks for the help!

How high do you have your battle size setting? Max I think is 1000 troops at a time?

I have issues some places where I spawn in max 250, even the defenders less than 500. And max battle size set to 1000.

1- The correct answer was posted by ME a couple days ago. I hope it wasnt to you in that thread as well.

2- Since I'm too lazy to look up my own post, and u didnt search for it.. (though I wouldnt know what words to search for).. I'll write it again.

A- You have 800 ATTACKING A FIEF (town or castle)
B- They have 700.
C- Doesn't matter WHAT your troop count is set at... 300? 600? 2000??? (is that even possible)
D- The defender gets CLOSE to a 3:1 defender ratio. This is Because of the OTHER wives tale "it takes 3x the attackers to defeat defenders". This is why it took USA about 60k dudes on the ground, to Destroy roughly 400k Iraqis. 3:1 (sarcasm off.. yes the 3:1 is proven incorrect time and time and time again. yet game devs, and forum kids love to use it).
E- since the "Defenders" should have a 3:1 advantage. You will see in AUTO CALC fights, that your "garrison" of 300 dudes (if u are in it) can EASILY defeat 900 man attackers, even if they are all tier 6. and you are tier 1. (hit auto calc). The 3:1 bonus for troops, and the WALL bonus the coding gives.. means u will probably suffer 50 wounded and dead.. and his whole 900 is GONE.

F- For your specific case.. The defender should have ROUGHLY three times more than you.. so if u have 150.. he should have 450. (and since u in MANUAL combat, u literally SEE it).

If you were defending you'd see it the EXACT same way in your favor.. except that is almost impossible. If you have 800 defenders there is ZERO percent chance the AI will attack with 800.. as soon as they get near your fief, they will walk away. So technically you WOULD get the advantage but the ai cheats u, and walks away.

As to garrison starving.. The Garrison DOES starve, but just like starving in the field it isn't permanent (or at least it wasnt, I havent seen someone starve in the field in almost a year)... So they are WOUNDED. The MILITIA do not suffer from this as a game balance issue.

If u fight (attack) and win, GOOD NEWS. that GARRISON that is starved is now your prisoner, along with the Militia u fought. If you attack and LOSE. Bad news, they eat some bread while u walk away and slowly start to heal back up.

Look into mods to help even the odds

or tune the battle numbers right down for sieges, at that point it becomes really easy to take the place because the ai is poorly implemented in this game for low numbers, so you can literally take the entire thing by yourself if your character is maxed out and equipped with end game gear

Other than that, yes this game is in a :shit: state and apparently mods are our only real salvation, but even they cannot perform miracles on this junk

If you starve down the garrison, and you roll in like a boss with tier 5-6 units. You can walk all over the militia still.
