Need help with beginning

I’ve never played this game series before and am a complete newb to this type of game and I’m stuck and confused. I did a fight training thing, and now I’m at some town and talked to some guy about fighting some bandits and saving a doctor. I don’t know what to do now though. I have a quest telling me to hunt down 3 parties and search the village for them. But I don’t see anything. I used the quest marker thing and it leads me back the the horseman guy again, but I can’t talk to him due to some “tutorial”. I went out of the town and fought some bandits with 4 other dudes and we all died, I tried to do it again, but this time the 4 friendlies are gone. What am I supposed to do? This game has a lot going on in the map screen and I don’t see a quest marker or anything. Pls help what do I do?

I love this series so ill do my best. To recruit people into your party, go to towns or villages and hit the recruit button. Choose who and how many you want (assuming you have enough money) and hit recruit. Keep in mind though, you'll need to feed them. You can buy food in towns and villages just the same as recruits. If you have recruits and they die in battle, they're gone and you have to find more. If they get wounded, they will take a bit to heal up but they will come back. As for the quest (I skip it since i already know what Im doing) when you go and search around, there will be looters, bandits, etc parties running around with blue exclamation points next to them. If you defeat the 3 parties, someone will talk to you and tell you where the hideout is (it'll pop up on the map). You can take up to 10 people into the hideout (including you). Beat the guys in there (however many) and more will show up as a final fight. You can either duel the boss or not and everyone will fight each other. Be weary though, they are fairly geared compared to your recruits and sometimes even you. Once you beat that hideout, the doctor will come talk to you, give you a piece of the banner, and you'll be free to do whatever you want to do. There is a campaign mission but you have a very long time in-game to complete it. I hope this helps. I do apologize for the long answer but I really hope this helps. Yeah you will need help in the beginning everyone does when Tale-Worlds offers you such low status at the startup to use in abilities.

You will learn your own play-style it's hard to tell new people about the game because there is so much to know, when i first started playing M&B 13 years ago i never knew either but i understood RPG's and other games like total war which this combines elements of, back then i fell in-love with the series of games played all of them till this most recent release.

You will learn through trial & error mainly, if your stuck on something best to ask a specific question here in forums that way you will get a better response from people trying to help you, broad range questions like how do i play well, read some forums threads to get an idea if you have no clue at all how to perform basic functions of play as really i don't want to baby new people or veteran's who ask for too much detail in a response and won't accept the answer that was given which is the case with some people here claiming they have finished the game 10 times.

Do whatever u want. Be a do-gooder, or a raider, or run a group of hired blade, or a sale man, or become a vassal after u get enough renown, even start your own kingdom

ok thank you, what where are the blue markers? I don’t see them on any enemies or anything, I see it on the headsman guy I just talked to, but, when I talk to him it just says I can’t because I’m in a tutorial, am I supposed to fight him?

no, I’m at the village with the headsman, tevea, and I see a blue exclamation on his head, though I still can’t talk to him due to the “tutorial quest” or something. I go outside the village and it shows a blue exclamation mark on the same village’s name. But next to the exclamation is a sheep. Do I need to do something with sheep?

I don’t use discord :(, though I am seeing a yellow exclamation mark on some raiders, is that what I’m supposed to fight?

Ok, i believe that is what you are supposed to do, yes. You should have to defeat 3 or 4 parties, hideout will pop up, beat that. Save doctor, get the piece, then you should be free after that to do what you want

Ok cool I did it, I think I’m on the right track now. Though for some reason I was on the map menu and just lost a bunch of money for no reason, what’s that about.

what do you mean you lost a bunch of money? like how much do you have now? you do pay your troops, have to feed them etc

Oh that’s probably what it was, a maintenance fee. Also one last question before I go, is there like a team death match for single player? I’m really only in it for the fighting.

not necessarily TDM in single player but i know MP has it. Just a suggestion though, from player to player, id stick with SP for right now if it is your first time playing this style of game. It'll allow you to understand how the fighting works, what your best play style is, etc. But as for the TDM, the closest thing you'll get to that in SP is the tournaments and practice arenas that are in every town in the game. Although the tournaments pop up here and there

Those hunt down parties quests makes specific parties spawn around the village (in the world map) just for the quest. You just have to wait sitting outside the town for them to zoom past you and then you go and attack them.
