AI Is Really Bad
Watching 70 Cavalry turn around to chase 2 Cav instead of charging the enemy lines is appalling.

The more I get into the large fights. The more I see just how bad the AI is in this game. It's borderline broken at times.

I've noticed this too.

both sides use the same "bad ai" F6 ... so nobody have a advantage.

try to lead / command the cavallry yourself or press "autobattle" and dont fight yourself.

Even with RTS command, order them to attack/charging will still go at random 'formation' the game pick for your cavalry.
Delegate command, on the other hand, let cav. do cycle charge and such.
Still went off after random formation but works better. Do stupid thing smarter, or so they say.

well their AI are basicly just infantry blob meeting infantry while cav meet cav as priority.

If you only give one type of orders in battle, you'll only end up with one type of results.

Sometimes one single sentence is enough to sum things up perfectly.

I agree AI is really bad does sum up the AI in the game perfectly.

... which means you have to take matters into your own hands :)

Just learn to micromanage. Nobody is saying the AI is great but no game out right now is going to realistically have the kind of AI you seem to want in the huge battles this game has.

Just like warband you have to micromanage and that's part of the fun for most people I would imagine.

Most formations can often be left to their own devices with delegate command or even reckless charge or heedless advance, but cavalry – soldiers which both excel but also depend on their mobility but are also only effective in close combat – instead require that personal touch to shape their performance in battles properly.

If you don't wish to order and lead your (lancer) cavalry around more actively, consider switching to mounted skirmishers (works well on charge and delegate) or cataphracts (can defend or intercept better with advance or delegate).
