"Artisan can't sell goods"
So, an artisan told me he can't sell his goods himself and he needed me to take them to a different town to sell them there. I accepted.

Another merchant came and told me that those are stolen goods. That's good. Twists in the stories you tell are great!

But then I said that that must be a mistake. Directly, I was an empire-wide criminal and I lsot reputation with people. EVEN with the artisan who gave me the quest.

That's like: "You are delivering the goods as I asked? You damn criminal scum!"

Like even if I was a criminal and everyone suspects me, that is okay. That's how rumours work.

But the literal guy who tricked me into fencing for him is suddenly angry that I fell for him?

What? ^^;;

You have a "criminal rating" with every kingdom, once it goes beyond a certain threshold, you get into trouble. It'll go down over time.
Yeah, that's okay.

The only thing that makes me wonder is that the exact person who made me do that thought less of me for doing it. o.O

Has happened to me on occasion, just go from town to town completing quests, paying no attention to my current criminal rating.

Start "Artisans can't sell goods" and do "Fencing stolen goods" in one town, go to town of same faction and do another Fencing quests, and voila, you're a criminal with 20+ crime rating now.

i think only rouge buiild do these quest, u regularly since they have skill that get rid of criminal rating faster.
should surrender ur goods when merchant comes over.

Ew, no.

What's wrong with just a little bit of crime? Just a teeny-weeny bit of murder and general unlawfulness.

And the Roguery perk to lower criminal rating faster is not that strong, particularly if you consider the other Roguery perk that lowers trade penalty if you have any criminal rating.
As the thread derailed anyway: I wished there was a way to get bandit troops more quickly.
So you could play as a rober baron kinda thing. x3

This is one of the quests I never do, the town merchant quests which directly involve goods or trade are poorly made IMO.

There is a roguery perk that makes every bandit party automatically offer to join you.

You still have to be fast enough to catch the party, which can be pretty hard if you're trying to catch the Steppe or Desert bandits.

Steppe and Desert bandits being great due to the fact that they're (mostly) on horseback.

Also, "conformity" (the thing that determines prisoners joining you) is generated by Leadership. So get some more of that, and prisoners will join faster.
But like, an actual way of directly recruiting bandit recruits from hideouts or such if you're criminal enough or something.
Maybe something for a mod or such.

Pretty sure Fourberie has something like that, it adds a lot more criminal features to the game, to the point where you can even have your own hideout and bandit outfit you lead.

Only take that quest if it’s a town you own and you have great relationships with the other merchants in town. Then you just issue a decree, take your reward and move on. You will lose 10 relationship points with one of the other merchants and that’s it.

You can roleplay it so he doesn't want to be caught for being the guy who asked you to fence them in the first place.

"Err yeah, selling those goods that I have absolutely nothing to with let alone give them to him, that is, err, despicable. Boo, shame, boo!"
