Any mod that fixes the perks?
Best I could find is "Custom Skill And Perk Effects"[www.nexusmods.com], but without having downloaded it I'm not sure if you could add entirely new effects (stuff like leadership... making you a better leader of troop-formations, aka captain). Even if, it looks like that's still held back by the horrible perksystem from vanilla. And that's assuming it still works - last updated 2020.

Any better mod? Ideally with a proper perksystem, but even just removing the current nonsense and buffing skills instead would be a step forward.

What do you mean by "fixing"? Are you saying that the perks don't work, or you just don't like what they do?

Improve beyond the current placeholder-quality of the perksystem. Such as, as mentioned, removing it, and buffing skills.

There's nothing to fix. But they are moddable.

So, the latter, it sounds like. I haven't seen one that does.
I disagree with your assessment of the perk system, but that's a matter of opinion, and that's one of the reason mods are optional, not everyone likes the same thing. If one comes out that makes a better system, I'll definitely look into it.

It's a "fix" even if it's still "working". Just like horrible framerates, bad AI, or poor balance.

Someone has made a website and has been tracking the implementation of the perks in this game. https://www.bannerlordperks.com/

I'd say its pretty much complete and each skill tree is functional as is.

"Kaoses Tweaks" can give you a lot of little knobs to dial and tune different things, better/different than many of the perks, but it doesnt replace the perks that are already there.

I'm aware of that site, and it clearly shows the entire perksystem is still in a placeholder-state. And a select few perks that were implemented for that are partially bugged, but that's... a lesser issue, really.

No mention of perks on the description[www.nexusmods.com], but I guess I'll check it out if nothing better comes up.

Because? What perks is placeholders and doesn't work as intended?

Current character development system is not a placeholder, and it's closer to fully functional than that of Skyrim for example.

I'm okay with the perks. Playing since launch of EA where an overwhelming majority of perks wasn't even implemented yet, I definitely notice a vast improvement :)

That said, I do understand the "placeholder" argument, as I get it's not meant literally. Some of the perk choices are really... mediocre at best, making the choice a bit less engaging. Basically, sometimes it's like "Hmm, let me see which choice I am the least totally uninterested in?"

A bit in the same boat, what I also lack is NPC perks. A lot of the choices only affect the player, also with skills most players have companions focusing on, making them also a bit of a "meh, I don't really care" choice at best.

Some really gamey choices as well. The steward ones giving your troops experience for discarded armor and weapons is an example of that, in my opinion. "Hey, let's give that veteran soldier a bunch of tattered rags and a headcloth and that's the last thing he needed to turn into a legionaire".

But again, I'm okay with the perks. That's just it, though, okay.

I don't really like the perk as they are. Most of them are just all over the place. Mainly the governor perks.

You have perks that are are only useful for certain roles (party leader, governor etc) or are only useful to the player or only useful to NPCS. Yet you have to choose these useless perks that have no benefit to you or your clan members as they are the only ones to choose. Then you have some perks that are always superior than the other choice no matter what.

Don't get me started on the balance. You have some of the best perks available within the first few levels of some skills. Yet some of the higher level perks are not even worth it. Take scout for example. The first three perks all increase map speed, yet the 250 perk slightly increases simulation damage in very specific cirumstances. Useless.
