"change party leader" mechanic basically deletes the party
Apparently when you assign a new companion to lead an already existing party, the current leader will immediately leave and the party's troop capacity plummets.

I assigned a new leader, who had higher steward, to take over a party that I was RIGHT next to on the map. It told me the party wouldn't have a leader for 2 hours and wouldn't be able to join an army.

What it didn't tell me is that the party will only be able to support 20 troops, and will immediately hemorrhage anything over that. I watched a party lose 100 troops in 2 game hours.

Just have the old party leader wait with the party until the new one arrives... or remove the capacity limit of leaderless parties.

Afaik, they will go to closest friendly castle/town and dump the units in the garrison. And then you watch the new companion run arund and recruit fresh low tier units that get walked over.

You can bypass this with have the new party leader in your party, then do the switch when standing next to the party where you want to switch out the leader.

Read the post, I was right next to the other party on the map and the new companion was in my party. The other party most definitely did not go garrison the units.

I don't think the party losing all it's troops when trying to switch leaders was an intended feature and I shouldn't have to bypass it. This post wasn't asking for help it's informing the devs they need to fix this ♥♥♥♥.

Already been reported on the TW forum before. It's not somthing new.
the old method was replaced with this new dumb method, at least in the old method u could create and army, take all troops from the party or just disband the party, then move next to the disband party and invite them all into your party, after that u can just create a new party with a another companion, BUT since 1.9.x - 1.xx this was replaced by some dumb mechanic that u cannot even communicate once u disband the party and the DUMB AI will try to move to a friendly town to disband aka dumb the troops EVEN when u already own a castle or town BUT said dumb AI just tries to find something near, or if u choose to replace another party leader whose steward skill is way lower than the original party leader OMFG be prepared to lose troops... which means this wasnt even tested just outright release to players do suffer...
