Pro Tips
Lets share our secrets here. First one is from me:
When you want a city with different owner clan to be given to you, dont demand it outright. First, propose to enact a policy that no one wants to be enacted (or disavow one which everyone loves), then stay abstain. Do it many times until you drain other clans of their influence (they waste their influence on your meaningless proposals). After that , demand any city you want to be given to you. Everyone will try to oppose you but without influence they will just sit and watch. In my current Battanian Campaign, I grabbed 3 main Battanian cities purely with politics. :steamlaughcry: You can do this until only King's cities remain. Then its up to you to rebel or not :steamhappy:

That will also deprive the clans of their ability to create armies... but you do you lol.

Well I guess my secret is to take over an existing realm with election instead of founding a completely new faction. If you do that before they have managed to conquer any towns, and you're well-established enough clan, you can easily gain control of multiple foreign towns once they are favored in a war, especially if you have already become their ruler. I managed to gain control of about 7 foreign towns before the clans though I had enough fiefs under my banner. This is not only a good way to develop great economy for your realm, but also to ensure your conquests don't end in early rebellion too quickly, since players can manage loyalty better than the AI.

That perk is really one of the most OP perks ever! Then here comes my second tip:
If you want to level up your charm to unbelievable levels, pick "Good Natured" perk, then give your full support to a loser during voting. For example if everyone wants to give the newly conquered castle to Lord A, then fully support Lord B but avoid making Lord B win the castle. When Lord A wins the voting, not only will you gain huge relationship bonus with Lord B and his clan, thus immensely increasing your charm skill, but also influence you spent will be fully refunded. Win Win!:presidente:

thats a few tips i wrote for beginners tho i wrote that before 1.9 so there may be something outdated

caravans and workshops are great passive income however workshops need a bit of work to be good as far as i understand that but thats why i never use them. caravans are good as long as you are not at war with a kingdom, they can survive that too. but if they dont you lose 15K denars.

if you only do quests a group of 30 T2 units with you is enugh for 95% of what you will meet at the start of the game. this doesnt cost much and works with any culture.

overall there isnt really a "if you take this then you cant do this" moment in this game, meaning you can take any culture and do everything any other culture can do too. so take what you want and play around a bit

companions are a bad idea at the beginning of the game, they cost you as much as 15 T2 units and bring you less in combat then 2 in the beginning, they are mainly used to buff units as captain or as governor for a city/castle or to lead caravans. (so you can still hire them if you want to do caravans. overall you can hire them anytime and just leave them in a town, this way you wont pay money for them and they will incrase relationships with people in the town over time)

(Edit: there was an update that makes units cost money now even if they are send on a mission, that wasnt the case before so i would not be supriesed if companions cost money at all times now)

i wouldnt play with death and birth enabled for the first 1-2 games but if you want to try it you can do that after that. i personally dont like it.

bows are basically easy mode as long as the enemy has no shield. so if you struggle getting good, bows will make your life great. on horseback even more.

if you want to train yourself in melee you can go into an arena at any town at daytime and fight there, you dont lose anything from going down and you can always go again, this isnt worth it for the money unless you do a tournament but thats something else.

some people forget that this game is a sandbox. the main quest is more of a guidance if you dont know what do to with yourself. however the main quest wants you to make your own kingdom at some point, this is everything but not a thing for a new player. you need to be really really good at this game and know what you do to make a kingdom. most players usually get to clan tier 2 and then get part of an already existing kingdom. this is also the best to do as a new player.

having too many animals in your party will slow you down. you can see your speed and what it impacts if you click on the little arrow in the lower right corner and then hover over the speed sign. a troop on foot can hold 2 animals. a troop on horse already (so cavalry units) can only hold 1 more animal cause they already have their own.

if you have horses in your inventory and foot troops in your party you will get a speed boost for footman on horseback. however watch out that you dont get too many horses that you end up with the debuff for too many animals.

somethimes an enemy will beat you in combat and you will lose your inventory. so dont hold on to stuff if you dont equip it and dont need it now in the early game, only animals and food in your inventory at most times is best. if you finally escape from an enemy you usually have 3 horses in your inventory and nothing else (why ever) and this gives you the speed debuff for too many animals so throw them out and you will be really fast again, ready to escape.

if your horse dies in combat there is a chance it can become lame, so if you notice your horse somehow isnt as fast anymore thats cause its lame. need to get a new one.

sieges are prob a bit in the far for you however if you do them let the AI control the units. at least in this version of the game (for me) if the player tries to control the AI in a siege they dont do some stuff and that can ruin the entire siege.

weapon smithing and trading are both things that are interesting but shouldnt be your focus in the first game, id recomment to just spend your skill points in combat skills for the first time and have a bit fun that way.

dont try to achieve anything aside of wins in combat and you will learn a lot for the first playthrough, if you already try to get the world it will get frustrating really fast

waiting in a city gives you a boost to your healing. so you spend less time wating and more time playing.

you can press F6 when you need to command your troops and the AI will take over for you, in the beginning this will always end up with a charge command but once you get archer and cav they will start using some tactics (not the best but good enugh)

if you level up units you can wait till all of them have reached the next level (30 recruits. 23 are ready for a level up, keep on fighting till you have 30 are ready for level up) because units share XP as long as its the same kind of unit. meaning if you have only 7 recruits it will take way longer for them to get the last XP in cause they now need to fight next to the already upgraded units. tho you shouldnt wait for just 1-2 units out of 30.

a lot of data and info you can find about this game is kinda outdates but there is still a lot of useful stuff on youtube and the internet about it.

food has no difference to one another, but for having only 1 food type you get a little morale debuff. however usually morale should never be a problem unless your units starve. you should avoid that or they will leave your party, same for if you dont pay them cause you dont have any more money

tournaments in citys are a great way to get to some money and starting equipment so getting good at them will be huge, dont be shy to save scam to learn them. but move on for now if its too hard that ealry.

a lot of people play on bannerlord difficutly but there is no shame to play on lower difficulties. do what you want and what makes fun.

there is a quest that someone "needs help with brigands". for me and many other people there are often not enugh enemies to finish that quest, so i avoid it and gonna test it on release (18 days to release) but just so you know why if that happens for you.

you can edit your banner with B and your character with V(i think) in an already started game, with N you can open the encyklopedia that lets you read about basically anything.

you can press C on your horse any time and your character will stop the horse and get off. with double W or S you can also do a fast forward or fast stop.

cities/villages dont really have any reason atm to go into them, you could fight bandits in the city but its not really worth it. they look cool tho.

if you want to min max your character this guy made really good guides about everything. just dont forget that some of his info might be outdated.

Just a tad too cheesy for my own taste but I do use use that tactic to keep vassal under control.

Here is another tip that provides a great early way to "farm" battles without having to resort to outright cheesy tactics; such as archer retreat.

A faction that is not at war with an other faction will not form armies. So, if you declare war on a faction, as an independent clan, you have pretty much free reign to hunt down their individual lords, in easily managable sizes. They will often even spare you the trouble of having to find them and come straight to you;)

if player goes for long campaign, noting is more important than many children. one kid per year for player and for brother. money comes easy, but for many kids one has to pay attention.

THAT !

Sand-Box
About me: I plan to give my son a huge treasure and large elite party when I reach 50.
I am 37 now (in game lol) and my 1st child, a daughter, will be married to the best Vlandian/French suitor !
(And so on, building a long lasting Clan)

Liana, my wife, a French Lady from Marseilles is 25 and i hope to have many children with her. We both have the right skill to have kids, and we "wait" a lot in towns, as of late...

I am a mercenary for France.
7+ million cash mostly from Smithing , 8 caravans, 6 (only) workshops, 3 Paris and 3 Orleans. Just Took Orleans this (in-game) summer from the pesky Western Empire (Spain) that instead of going for North Africa they stabbed us in the back !
(Revange will be Glaorious !)

And an 160 Army; Elites already, Vlandians ONLY !
Battles, on normal, are visceral and I am lucky that the Enemy has tons of Vlandians prisoners to replenish me ranks.

Eventually, one of my sons will start a kingdom, with my legacy behind...
And so far, my adventure in Bannerlord is absolutely awesome !

This by Underestimated is a big one that should be stickied someplace.

"if you level up units you can wait till all of them have reached the next level (30 recruits. 23 are ready for a level up, keep on fighting till you have 30 are ready for level up) because units share XP as long as its the same kind of unit. meaning if you have only 7 recruits it will take way longer for them to get the last XP in cause they now need to fight next to the already upgraded units. tho you shouldnt wait for just 1-2 units out of 30."

Id add to that: converting troops works much the same way, do it with one type at a time otherwise youll cripple your conversion rate.

Didnt read your deleted comment but we already know it refunds only the votes. You lose only 50 influence by proposing , but in turn, whole kingdom loses their influence. I usually stockpile about 1000 influence then do the trick, it works everytime. Only problem is they removed me from the candidates list after giving me 3 cities so I rebelled after draining their influence.

tip about culture.
children inherit WIFE`s culture. if player plans to have sturgian cities, yet started as battanian(what player should do), then take wife from sturgians, so player can have sturgian culture children-governors.
brother wife could come from yet another culture. imperials, khuzaits. depending what other fiefs player could get.
plan your fief`s map ahead. i mean literally, plan on map, what are best towns, what are map`s chokepoints.

give away bad fiefs. bad fiefs are hard to defend, far from each other. prosperity can be improved if town is kept safe. again, hard to defend fiefs are nothing but pain.

cavalry.
if player plans to use cavalry and promote it highly, then player should seek and buy warhorses early. a lot of them. later warhorses become very expensive. cavalry is by far, most expensive units in game if promoted. every cavalry loss is thousands and thousands paid for upkeep and warhorse. very expensive. plan ahead if going to use. never waste them on AI charges. they will die a lot.

influence and how to drain it from lords.
when joined kingdom as a vassal, player should enact proper laws, what benefit to player. normally, it is nearly impossible to do, for lords oppose any rationality.
to drain influence of lords, wait for them to be at war. when lords start to make armies, disband them again and again, until lords use all their influence. THEN start to propose good laws. pay close attention to laws and what they do.
