How to unlock smithing parts fast?
So trying to unlock smithing parts but the process is very slow even though my smithing is at 300 and I have the perks to unlock smithing parts, so far I only have access to tier 2 parts for some weapons and others have very few parts unlocked

At this point I have no issues with cheating so what is the easiest way to unlock parts, even if I have to use console commands or a mod

It is slow.. no matter what u do except cheat mode.

The fastest way I know of is :

Unlock Tier 5 two handed LONG glaives. or max level super expensive 2 handed swords with SWING damage.

Now make them, sell them. make millions.

When you feel like it, pick a category.. pick a few to make it faster (1 handed sword, 1 handed axe, 2 handed axe etc).. then walk around the world. hitting every town, making/selling your Money maker (long glaive for example) and BUYING (that is the key) all the top tier axes, and 1 handed swords. Smelt them

do this over and over, for all tiers of weapons.. and soon.. in no less more than 400 years.. you'll have unlocked everything (not that long of course, but even this way is not easy).

Oh and SOME things are super painful to unlock... so you get them to a point (i.e. maybe tier 3) that you can make something decent.. so you make and break that, over and over.

2 hand maces are THE WORST to unlock. Only ones you can find in the market are sledgehammers in Battania.

you have to definitely pick the perks that say unlock them easier. Then go ahead and buy the most expensive weapons and break them down. Always breaking them down.

Why do you need to buy sledgehammers? I found two hand maces to be the easiest to unlock all the parts, and that was just by smithing and smelting repeatedly.

I think this function needs more balances, since even if you unlock a part, you can't effectively use it if your smith rank is not high enough, so unlock all parts at the start of the game or unlock them according your smith rank won't make the game too easy. I make and smelt weapons for 50+ hours, I don't even unlock all level 1 parts of one hand sword.

many smiths and make whatever sells for the most, cause that also unlocks the most. smelting unlocks stuff faster then smithing.

I tried to do smiting legit when full release came out i just gave up 1/2 to tier 3 and used a cheat command i couldn't take it anymore

Not sure if you are exaggerating to get your point across " I make and smelt weapons for 50+ hours, I don't even unlock all level 1 parts of one hand sword"..

If so, yeah I agree. it needs more balance. and takes a long time to unlock all.

But if you SMITH, and focus ONLY on smithing, and unlocking.. starting from Smithing lvl 0. with let's say.... "5" other companions helping you.

You could unlock all of 1H sword, 2H sword, 1H axe, 2H axe, 2H polearm, Javelin, 1H mace, Throwing axe... and 50-80% of the other weapons... in probably 5-10 hours.

Not fun, Boring.. I agree.

But if you are wasting too much time on a difficult weapon. (because making and smelting it.. is slow). make sure you are doing as suggested. MAKE a good expensive weapon (I like long glaives ).. sell them for cash, (so you spend ALL your initial time on leveling 2H polearm).. Then buy all the other high end weapons u see (like war razor, Jereed etc) EDIT: oops.. buy them then SMELT them.. as someone said SMELTING unlocks faster than Smithing a weapon.

open console:
type:
config.cheat_mode 1

then:
campaign.unlock_all_crafting_pieces

(once you typed "campaign.unlock " the console will give the whole correct commend)

End the Cheating by typing:
config.cheat_mode 0

have fun Cheaters ! :steammocking:

Everytime you fight a big fight buy a bunch of hardwood and break down anything you can first then sell. I've unlocked everything I need doing this technique

well, I did play for 50+ hours, you can check my record. I am just not sure if smelting expensive weapons will have more chances to unlock parts, I usually save them for selling or for compabions. But I make and smelt tons of cheap weapons and nothing changes.

ahhh. we thought you ONLY smelted/made weapons for 50 hours.

Yeah if u have 50 hours total in game.. thats not much :)

To unlock stuff. You want the perk CURIOUS SMELTER (the other one for smithing is not near as good). You then get money. Lots of money. Since you are working on smithing, why not get money from SMITHING?

So you want to get a VERY expensive weapon unlocked. My favorite, and probably the easiest is focus only on TWO HANDED POLEARMS. you want to MAKE the most expensive (material wise) weapon u can with SWING damage (pierce damage sucks for money, and unlocks). Now you smelt it, make more, smelt more. Soon u get better polearms unlocked.. u sell a few for gold. make more, smelt more.

Eventually (not too long) you unlock the tier 5 stuff. Long Glaive Blade. Make it over and over. Smelt it over and over to raise your Smith levels.

Get the perk to Reduce the TRADE PENALTY on SMITHED ITEMS.

now your glaives are selling for 30-40k each..

and are not expensive to make. You can make millions. Run around, find the NEXT thing u want unlocked (lets say 1 handed swords). you BUY all the expensive 1 handed swords u find at towns. BUY THEM cash :)

Then smelt them. make more glaives,, buy more 1h sword, smelt more sword etc..

thats how to unlock everything in the fastest time (but as we said, it still isn't "fast" it has been rebalanced many times by the devs.. and this is the time they settled on. it was much much much faster in the past)
