Are sword sisters actually any good?
In warband they were good. Here they have no helmets and seem pretty weak unless you have them in a protected archer line then maybe they're halfway decent. But mounted they seem awful. And they aren't cheap either since they are mercenaries.

Average as Cav-Archer and they compensate by screaming a lot...

Looking at their stats and gear, no, they are not the super units they were in Warband. However, gallants are the only mounted crossbows in the game, which may be worth something, especially to players who want to use crossbows or anyone who needs quick access to some mounted archers.

Hired Elite Crossbow and Veteran Outrider seem more useful. The Outrider in particular seems to come with a noble mount...

tried them as only units. unfortunately, they are made out of paper. all of them.
i want to like them, because they have all traits i value highly - xbows, shields, mounted.
no armor on horse and bad crossbow (i know this one can reload on horse but some better than this one exist).

not to mention, very expensive wages for what you get

I would take one Lagertha over a whole troop of these Sword Sisters

My favorit unit to clear out hideouts. They run quick.

They are T5, but they cost more than T6 Banner Knights.

But they look cool. And in a siege, they'll keep the defenders heads down. But they only have about half as much ammo as a regular archer.

One plus -- They will upgrade to a mounted Gallant Sword Sister without you having to supply a horse.

One big minus -- Good luck separating them from regular archers or mounted horse archers. Ain't happening with the POS OOB.

Don't recruit Sword Followers. Way too squishy. But you can find plenty of Sword Sisters, then upgrade them.

All in all, I'd rather have some Sturgian javelin-tossing Hardened Brigands and Horse Raiders. Cheaper and more durable and just as cool to watch.

I'm going to let them die off, then save a few for my personal lord's guard along with my horse archer companions.

Yeah when I was in my merc phase, was about to go bankrupt, before seeing ~40 of them costing 18 per day... yeah they were abandoned just like that

So I've been testing them against looters and bandits. Mounted get almost no kills, just serve as a decent distraction. But of course there's better options for that which could also get some kills in.
