In my current playthrough I started out as an ally for Battanians and currently am independent kingdom taking over for the Sturgians.
While a vassal of the Battanians, I would attack caravans of any non-Sturgian Battania was at war with, mostly Vlandians. Some nice loot and cash to be had for a relatively easy fight.
The tough part is catching them.
As for villages, again if they don't belong to people I intend to rule over later, I might raid them while the main force was besieging a town, then once it looks like they started their assault, I'd go over and join.
I don't think it's ever *really* worth it to raid villages though.
when playing as a bad guy, yes completely worth it
If you are playing as a conquering Savage like my character and you execute all your enemies anyway, then villages and caravans are no big deal
the only reason it's no longer worth it, is because there are bigger targets to go after, such as enemy parties, castles and Towns, so now don't bother with caravans or villages anymore, they are no longer a priority
also the put off is that if you want that area for yourself you don't want to have bad relations
so you want to do it in areas where you won't be taking for yourself
Caravans are good targets as a merc, you get 30 influence or so for a really quick battle
Even executing lords looks like a bad deal because you get penalties with so many clans. Sometimes the offended clans don't even belong to the faction of the person you murdered. Heavy relationship penalties would have been fine if only it was only limited to the faction of the murdered person.
in reality only some, not all, some friends and family would really be bothered who were close or have political interests to use that as a catalyst
especially considering this happened during war time, which is expected when on a losing side of battle
how would they know if it was execution or a death in battle? Player should be able to disguise the death as a battle death to maintain relations, and simply act as if it just happened during the battle, since chances are they would have died in the battle with his men anyway, if I was going to execute them after the battle I wouldn't try to capture them, especially if I am not interested in a ransom.
The entire system right now is a joke and hasn't improved from warband, the entire world is still magically connected with social media smart phones sharing everything with everyone, probably got drones over head monitoring everything too
People be weird about relationships.
I tried it in Bannerlord and had to reroll realising I will just go broke trying to raise intimidation through party size without wardec. I guess a good start in Bannerlord is town to town tournaments, actual trade and working up to be a caravan escort which is pretty fat stacks with the raid spawns. Little disappointing I can't be a d*** I mean the whole point of the game is you start as a little s*** given lordly status.
