It's not BS, smithing is ridiculously easy to level.
BS as in Blacksmithing? That's not even the point. Still not sure how to get a tier 6 sword, I got all the tier 5 parts.
Yeah, that's how you're supposed to get new parts. Primarily through smelting though you can learn some from crafting too.
Smith xp goes up a lot more for smelting too.
Maybe they mean 1H swords. Anyone have the parts to check this? I don't because I never make 1H swords.
Some weapons is hard to gain parts for with initial smelting. Such as maces, (2h)axes and some others.. Buy higher tier units of these on the market to smelt down. And make sure the character that smelt them down got the perk that increase chance of learning while do so.
i have 1H sword but always block at 5/6 tier 6 weapon achievement(skill 323)
