Ah well problem solved I guess. 40GB...
It's actually "just" 8.8GB, still that's 8.8x2=17.6GB to convert a save game to a compatible version.
Don't defend them. This could've been foreseen and a special version or online service created.
10 years back there was no option to roll back to earlier versions of games, you either updated the game or you did not play. nowadays a lot of games allow us to continue playing older versions (total warhammer, 7 days to die, this game)
