Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord

M&B1 with mods vs M&B2
Title. Mount and Blade 1 with some mods is janky but tons of fun. Would you guys recommend sticking with 1 w/ mods for a bit longer or is 2 now feature-complete enough to where it would be considered an upgrade over 1 with a few mods.

The end.

Maybe search the forums and see that this has been answered 100's of times.

The answer is... if you like text boxes, then mb1+mods.

If you like battles, then bannerlord.

i havent started up m&b 1 for ages now, when i suddently feel the urge for butter or harvesting season then i load up bannerlord,
it all depends on you and your preferences, bannerlord offers a rich gameplay experience but after spending a while in it it feels shallow. bannerlord has a bigger map, more towns and castle to siege, more lords to convince to join your kingdom, more quests, more items, but for some reason in feels less than warband, especialy when compared with warband with specific amazing mods like PoP. PoP had all those spawns and random knighthood orders, and bandits, and deserters and completely different factions that roamed the map and offered the player a very rich gaming experience if the player was willing to devote enough time to the grind.
in bannerlord there is only a different grind it's not really necessary to win, no need to level, no chase items to collect, the overland map is just generic factions that are somewhat the same, and generic lords and bandits. it's fun coming up with new tactics how to defeat particular kingdoms with different unit compositions. commanding the troops on the battlefield is somewhat better but not really much, and sieges are the same defend or overwhelm a enemy at a chokepoint. you can get married and have children in bannerlord, but because of the way time passes in bannerlord and no real possibility to speed it up enough, that option is just some sidefeature. not once did i manage to play long enough to see my character die or my grand grand children grow up, and one of my playtroughs is actually over 200 hours long.
warband had a longer early and midgame, where the player was a nobody struggling to survive in calradia, that part is somewhat gone in bannerlord. also game is alot easier than certain mods for warband.
so it's up to you, if you have a amazing pc and want to be somewhat amazed by modern graphics, cloth simulation, beatiful textures, forests, snow and horses, while coming up with new battlefield strategies, it's bannerlord, if you want to play a rpg and immerse yourself in one of the many fantasy worlds created by the modmakers for warband, then play warband.
Unless you have played most popular/good/famous mods for Warband as I did, I see no reason to going into Bannerlord. It's a step back.

I have suddenly discovered that I haven't played Warsword Conquest since '17, so finally having some fun with it.

Not entirely sure why people get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ about someone not searching through the thousands of posts to find their answer. Not only that- but the answer to this question will be quite different now than it would have been 6 months ago, a year ago, etc. Instead of being kind of a ♥♥♥♥ you could have just not said anything. It would have accomplished the same exact thing. Thanks for the actual answers though from other people. It's about what I expected- MB1 had some fun mods and I imagine it will take a while until MB2 + Mods surpass MB1 + mods but was just checking. Being polite isn't that difficult.

Clearly this is directed at my post, and no clue at what part of my post was impolite.

As for your comment about it being different 6 months ago...quite literally the last discussion with almost the exact same topic was on July 22.

Can't really imaging going back to Warband combat. You need a lots of mod to make it barely equal to Bannerlord. And that's with the current stupid AI. If you use the AI module from Realistic Battle then its no contest. Especially the sieges. Sure it could use some more work and better siege AI but its still sooooooo much better than Warband sieges.

If you like everything not related to combat then stick to Warband and its mods. I do miss Pendor and Gekokujo. I hope to see them in Bannerlord someday.

After having played a lot of Bannerlord both in singleplayer and online, even in a MMO mod (Bannerlord Online) I simply can't go back to warband. It is superior with mods in many ways, but the combat and personal RPG mechanics are a lot more fun in Bannerlord and few Warband mods do, or can do enough in those areas to even get close. I sometimes ache for some WB mods again, the total conversion ones such as the ones already mentioned here (PoP, Warsword, etc) but the thought of giving up so much of the improvements keeps me from it.

I'm sure, in time, we'll have great total conversion for bannerlord as well. But it will be many many years, as even to this day the base game remains a bit of a mess. And in many ways more than the original games ever were.

Clark and Onimahi, you deserve each other. 2 peas in a pod.

bannerlord is better than warband but bannerlord isn't done yet so if you love mods play warband

Battles are painfully long if you die early and want the renown in Warband. Bannerlord is way easier.

Sounds like I'll stick with M&B1 for a bit longer. Heavily modded games can be a double-edged sword. Take Fallout- after playing Tales of Two Wastelands for so long it would be nearly impossible for a base Fallout Game to live up to that. Or take Rimworld- if they made a Rimworld 2 it would probably take at LEAST months for the modding community to get the game to the level of the first one- probably longer. I know the devs need to make sequels to keep making cash and stay in business but a game like Rimworld could in theory have legs that last for years more because the modding community is so good. Quick to update them, too, when the base game gets updated.

There is a difference between M&B 1 and Warband.

I recommend Warband with mods, Bannerlord will never be feature complete.

There are 18000 people playing Bannerlord right now, and there are a shade less than 5000 playing Warband. That should tell you something.

Try Propersy of Pendor, it is the most optimize and polished warband mod

A lot of people don't play Warband through steam. While Bannerlord is almost exclusively steam.
Warband also has a much more healthy online base, where in Bannerlord it seems less than 5% of players are online, and so even with a lot more total players, it has fewer online players.
Neither is the better game, it comes down to what appeals to you more. Though I really do think most people find it very difficult to go back to the Warband mechanics after thoroughly enjoying the Bannerlord ones. I certainly do.
