You either has to win lots of battles, or "exploit" blacksmithing etc to survive with a big army. Im running around with 400 in my party right now.. - 5000 to -10 000 denars everyday.
That's all about income however, but reducing your expenses by means of Steward skill perks and many other skills is also very important.
Don't waste your time joining your faction's armies and fighting in big battles. You'll only get a small sliver of the loot available. Instead, go to busting bandits and looters by yourself. Smaller loot pie but you get it all to yourself.
Goal is to grow your little band into a force of 40-50 cavalry, then you go to raiding caravans behind enemy lines. Very profitable, and you should be able to outrun anything that can hurt you as long as you don't do something stupid like load up a bunch of horses that slow you down
Think Francis Marion, the Swamp Fox (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_S._Mosby), or the Gray Ghost John Mosby(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_S._Mosby). Lightening fast cavalry hitting supply lines and running away. I routinely run up a bank balance of 300-400k doing this.
For maximum speed, force should be all mounted units, and it should have no more horses than men. And don't lug around a lot of ♥♥♥♥. Head to a friendly or neutral town to sell loot and prisoners frequently so you don't get slowed down because you are encumbered.
Final note -- I like to use Vlandian noble troops because even the lowest level comes with a horse.
IIRC you still earn influence by joining an army, as well as providing them with much needed food. Just remember to desert the army at the right moment (or wrong, depending whom you ask
merc is the best way to make money. hunt some bandits or attack militia from villages in a war with the "force to give troops / food ".
When i was kid i was wasting time grinding and getting achiviements and alot of ♥♥♥♥ but bruh...
its a single story based game...i never waste time one of those...unless its a Dark Soul like and hard to clear or with puzzles and action that comes with of thinking how to beat it..
If u dislike useing cheat to get extra stats and make ur gaming more comfortable and more enjoable well good luck putting that houres into that <3
Unfortunately the answers were always - Raid - Attack bandits and looters, craft etc to make money
I think most people don't understand the issue, so I will say it again.
Making money is easy, the problem is PASSIVE income (do you know what that means?)
Unfortunately passive income is limited to workshops, caravans and fiefs.
Sadly in the current build of the game, castles are useless. They are one massive money drain and get captured during wars way too easily. Avoid castles at all costs.
That leaves towns, caravans and workshops.
Workshops and caravans are good early game income, but as soon as you get an army of high tier soldiers, you will once again struggle.
Towns bring the best passive income, but even then, you will not escape the money drain
TL:DR
Passive income in this game sucks.
It needs serious reworking and upgrading.
It means you can never relax and constantly need to hunt down bandits and go to war or the massively boring crafting to make money.
thats why i use cheat to get stats and be efficent enjoy game not grind it for ages and then understand...oh man i could do that xD
At least not for long durations of time. Store them in your own fief's garrison (saves money) or gift them to AI lord fiefs' (turns them into influence) or give them to one of your own companions when you let them form their own party in the clan menu.
The game works best with the player using low level cavalry units (cheap khuzait horse archers) and calling together armies in which AI lords do the recruitment and training of expensive troops. So do as I told you.
If you really want to keep a big and expensive party use whatever fief you can get, which INCLUDES castles, set their garrison budget in the clan menu to 0, deactivate the automatic recruitment and gift these useless ex-garrison troops to AI lord fiefs. This way your fiefs will make maximum profit - until they are captured by enemies. Garrisons and troops in active survise are costly, which they are in real life too. XD
Once you get fiefs, garrisons will be the biggest drain on your economy. You don't need garrisons of 300-400 high tier troops eating your income in every town or castle.
I usually set the slider at 50% especially in places that are not near the "frontline." Also, I use garrisons to replenish my forces especially high tier troops.
