Party expenses
When I form a new party why do I end up losing thousands a day despite limiting their budget? It has made be bankrupt

make sure you are getting enterprises in towns up to your limit.

After about 60+ troops if your not a lord find a kingdom to become a mercenary this will cover your expenses on its own.

I make quite a lot from workshops, caravans and trading an did quite a lot or mercenary work and am now a vassal. No land yet, hoping to make my own kingdom eventually but it seems quite difficult as I will probably have to go to war with the kingdom I am currently with.

There is an initial supply cost when creating new parties that isn't really documented anywhere. It basically stocks the new party with food.

If your dont have land wait until an army is formed and help it, they usually go for castles, and your kingdom usually hands out castles to lords without land. This however will still keep you in debt.

After that i would simply fight other lords and sell off loot, you should get rich fast (still will have a negative income though),
if you need higher end troops just follow a lord in your faction around until someone with more troops beats him then hit then swoop up all the prisoners.

edit: also worth mentioning there are a few perks from skills that will reduce party/garrison costs like the one in Steward 75

I understand how the game works, been playing since launch. Just never actually formed my own kingdom before so far. I have owned tons of land in previous saves. My best save was ruined by the conspiracy war. I just dont want to form a kingdom and be instantly wiped out my the kingdom I just left for basically stealing their land.

Troops would have a hiring cost too, not just food or daily wages, at least if we're assuming recruitment works the same for parties other than the player's.

Fiefs and everything else will only finance a portion of your budget. Best way to earn is to fight wars and sell the loot. It's also the best way of keeping your kingdom safe, obviously. 8)

Just level smithing and all issues with money are gone. Right now I don't see how you can have stable income from taxes if you have 5 parties and several garrisons in cities and castles. Workshops give very little income in late game scale. Caravans are better, but they will often be killed during wars. Trading takes too much time to be main source of income. Until economy is in better state I'd say just sell crafted weapons to not bother with economy at all.

It is not a supply cost, but each party leader has his own gold and pays his troops with his own gold, so if a Party Leader is under 5k gold, they get Gold from the Clan Leader(Party wages) and if they above 10k gold, they send 10% of the gold per day to the Clan Leader(Income from Parties).
