same goes for fiefs. they are NOT aiming at you cause you are a players fief. they might want it because its one of their old fiefs, might want it cause its strategic or you just have worse defence then any other city/castle in your kingdom.
its a matter of fact that the AI has nothing build in that makes them go after the player more. the reason you are getting targeted is ALWAYS something else.
I find this hard to believe as most games have a mechanic like this. Most AI will target the player over allies.
You are first. In other-words if you are the first "Unit" the AI see, they are going to target your unit...which usually encompasses just one which is you.
So, don't be first (or be part of a larger unit) and all problems solved.
If it doesn't solve your problem, then maybe the problem is your perception because you think anytime the enemy comes at you ever then all of them are coming at you all time and it is a coded in feature by the devs specifically to annoy you. Which then please re-read this reply again from the top and it should fix that for you.
Underestimated is correct. There is no such thing going on.
I was reading through and saw your post and thought it was funny and reminded me of a few of my playthroughs
It definitely happens, especially on bannerlord difficulty
Theres plenty of times I've used their targeting to my advantage too. Like, I'd equip a shield and use myself as a distraction while my army pick them off 1 by 1
I'll make a video of it and send it to you soon
Yeah I used to abuse that a lot early on just to make it through a campaign or two but now I just kinda want to be a grunt and not someone targeted by 50 guys at once lol. And on my current playthrough I'm sort of sticking to being in the last couple ranks not front line, usually on foot, and sometimes with or without a shield. I don't run any mods I've been pure vanilla bannerlord since it was released.
In a battle what is worth killing more; a regular soldier, or a commander/officer?
If you need help not getting targeted id suggest choosing your troops to march in front of you.
A.) I get the concept of going for commanders, but if I'm NOT a commander why are they still doing it? Right, because bad mechanic is bad.
B.) I don't need help not getting targeted because as per my last email I said I stand behind at least two lines of my own troops OR other peoples troops and I still wind up taking sniper fire from anywhere between 3-10 archers or get charged by cav. I've watched it happen. They break my infantry lines and keep riding through and then form a literal V and converge on MY location to try and clip me if I'm back far enough. And then they ride past me and go about 50 yards out and turn around and come right back for me.
C.) The 'solution' of getting on a horse, holding a giant shield and riding in circles to make the enemy shoot at me and not my troops is fun. For the first 10 hours... Then it gets boring. And I just no longer want to play the game like that. I actually want to use other weapon combos beside shield/horse.
I play the game on realistic difficulty for the most part and in first person. Combat usually on veteran. And in all my playthroughs I've found this list to be where I rank most playstyles and their ease of use. Not the most fun just the easiest way to play the game.
Sword/Shield: 7/10
Sword/Shield w/Horse: 10/10
Two-handed: 3/10 w/upgrades 6/10 (Some of the upgrades make a huge difference for this)
Two-handed w/Horse: 5/10 w/longer weapon 7/10 (Can one shot most stuff outside of retaliation range)
Polearm: 7/10
Polearm w/Horse: 10/10 (Just super easy with a lot of functions built in to make powerful hits)
Bow: 7/10 w/upgrades 10/10
Bow w/Horse: 11/10 (ezmode) w/upgrades (cheatmode)
Rest of the weapons are a different level of difficulty seeing as how blunts/axes/knives/thrown all sort of have their niches and usually have much lower ranges and damage values.
Yeah, I feel ya
Cheesing does get repetitive
And at times it feels like I have a huge bullseye on me when fighting enemy archers. Like they would go out of their way to aim at me when a ton of my sword troops are like a few feet in front of them and I'm like way off in the distance somewhere
Like you, I only play on Bannerlord difficulty and without mods. Maybe the targeting is a difficulty mechanic? Im not sure
I still think its funny though, when it happens
