How to PROVOKE a rebellion?
Husn Fulq, a town near my fledgling kingdom, has less than 21 loyality and falling. What, exactly, causes a rebellion and is there anything I can do to make it more likely without declaring war on its owner? I want to be able to conquer it without getting a larger faction mad at me.

Edit: The town previously rebelled, but it was years ago. I have a governor of the same culture with a +1 loyalty per day perk, so stabalizing it after shouldn't be too hard. Currently building up a large army to be ready to take it when it does rebel.

You might try buying all of their food every day.

Yeah, buying up the food in town AND in the surrounding villages should eventually lead to inflated prices in the town and a drop of loyalty.

OK. I'll try that.

Edit: And just as I go to try that, the Aserai and Southern Empire start fighting again so the city changes hands a few times.

Definitely what the other users said. Buy all the food. Make sure there is zero food when the day cycles. You can also burn the villages without going to war, but they will just hate you. Attacking caravans works too. The security drop will push the loyalty down too. Again, the notables will hate you. Make sure you dont do the quests the notables give. More problems the better.

by pressuring TaleWorld to remove loyalty drift

I’ve been looking everywhere for an answer and I’ve found a work around. The mod “separatism” is almost totally broken EXCEPT the loyalty rebellion mechanic, it lets you change the loyalty threshold from 25 and below to whatever you want. I’m currently running it at 45 loyalty for rebellion and it’s been great fun. It also really helps to prevent one faction from steamrolling as they have to work to keep fiefs from rebelling.

I just disable all the other mod features with the mod manager and it works great with about 30 other mods running. I’m currently running 1.2.11 on 4/22/25.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
