sneak into town/castle?

i havent done it yet but i assume you can only sneak into castles and towns of factions you are hostile to? A lord doesnt let me enter their castle probably doesnt like me because i did a quest that lowered relation. But im not at war against him. How do I get inside so I can free one of his prisoners?

OK so in order to sneak into a castle you cant be below 0 in relation with the lord then? because the guards dont let me in and i dont see a disguise option. i dont see any way to raise relations with the lord outside of playing tablut with him...but he says it is not a good time (is this because my relation with him is -2???) so i have no way of freeing them.

is there anything else i can do to raise his opinion enough for me to sneak into his dungeon? Cant do quests for him either as i already have land as another kingdom. what are my options

also i just got a quest for capturing someone who incidentally is also in a dungeon. but i dont see any option for the lord to release him. I assume this one cannot because both our kingdoms are at war?

so ill have to wait for the war is over, break the truce+attack the lord (since i think all hostages are released during tribute/wars end) and deliver him?
