My Trade Caravan keeps going into a warzone
Hello everyone...

Just got this game... I have no idea what is going on, but it all seems quite fun.

Anyway...

My trade caravan got attacked while we were at war. I trusted Ulvard the Brave with this most important mission of making me lots of money... and he failed me.

The dumb bastard got caught in enemy territory when the war started, but fortune smiled upon us both as I was well positioned, and managed to escort him out back into friendly territory. This being an example of my masterful strategic brilliance (and perhaps because it was me who encouraged my faction to start the war... my army is not going to pay for itself).

Then a few days later Ulvard the Moronic tried to head straight through the warzone again and got captured. A bit of a ♥♥♥♥ move on his part, lets be honest.

Does that mean I have to ransom him, and pay another 15k for a new caravan? Can I take this out of his wages? Or maybe shave his beard and pimp his arse out on the corner of the cheapest village in the game?

How the bloody hell do I stop this from happening in the future?

I think I screwed up the game a bit by gaining a huge army very early on, before I had an economy to support it. I assumed my starting area in the Southern Kingdoms was my "home" and after merc-ing in a couple of wars for them I became a vassal.

In the next war, using my godly battlefield prowess, I captured a castle and was granted lordship over it and 3 villages... where everyone hated me for being foreign, I was unable to make any money as the loyalty was too low and I could not stop it from dropping further. Being a foreigner was actually news to me. I thought it was a bit racist to be honest. So I renounced my vassalage and castle and headed to my real home with my army where I will be appreciated, and not judged. Somewhere where the peasant scum will recognise my true greatness, my fine looks, and amazing wit. And I vowed to return some day and teach those bastards a permanent lesson of what happens to racists in this world. Especially ones in foreign lands.

I am currently paying out over 1k a day, with almost no regular income. I have now become a vassal in the correct kingdom, and we are at war again. Hopefully I will get some land out of this one... Oh no the stupid king Derthert got captured and peace has been declared... It looks like Ulvard is going to be very, very busy in the near future...

Peace!

...

Sucks!

You don't. Caravans suck in wartime. You are better off investing in some workshops, but make sure they are in towns you either control or that you know are safe.

when you buy caravans make sure to always buy the better troops option a normal caravan will die alot faster

Thanks for your replies.

I am getting around 500 from 3 industries. 200 from my wool shop in Baltakhand

I have captured 3 castles.

I am having problems with the loyalty of one, as I think someone burned one of its villages.

What is the idea here. Boost the garrison and hope for the best? I am struggling to find a decent governor, and I only have a single companion spare.

I am up to tier 4. What should I be looking to do next?

I have a pretty high tier army of around 150 people and I am hoping to conquer a town in my next war.

In regards to the racist jerks, the easy solution is to marry into their culture and then put your same-culture spouse in charge of the racist dirtbags.

If you are playing the campaign, you can also marry your brother to a different culture wife and now you can appease 3 racist cultures. The campaign also adds 'free' companions (your family members don't count against companion limit).

https://www.nexusmods.com/mountandblade2bannerlord/mods/2453 here is a mod you can get if you don't want racist bastards around why not just kick them out slowly you can commit mass genocide and they will be a forgotten race of the past you can have your empire supremacy or whatever race you want also you might want to invest into trading get you trading up to 250 just by trading warhorses get yourself a million keep it over that at all times that 1000 a day income for just having money

My goodness... My post has lots of awards. I have literally no idea what any of it means, but thank you all.

I must remember to make more posts when I am drunk. Perhaps I can trade all of those steam point for some dignity...

caravans things to watch for

1) make sure the caravan person has a fast horse and a good weapon and armour.
2) the caravan returns to the town it was created in after about 21 days.and then you get the main profit from it.
3) do not make your caravan at a town with a bridge next to it...bandits block the bridge area and attack you.
4) in the skill system perks the tax and sell buy upgrades effect extra profit for your caravans

Never become a vassal if you want to run trade routes...

10k per route those routes have to run for at least 30-50 days.... youre just losing money if they dont and with the AI being the way it is, you bet your king is going to delcare war every chance he gets.
Caravans travelling through warzone (and visiting hostile cities) is "feature" that was there since the original release. I hope it will get fixed at some point, but for now caravan AI is really overly simplistic.

haha. just yesterday a friend of mine asked me the same thing (since I started playing 2 weeks before him I became "the expert") and I, not being able to admit that it was a busted mechanic, I began to say things like "well yes but it depends on the level of the trader, or scouts ... or maybe there was already a war, it never happened to me etc...
but the sad reality is that yes, it's a bit strange how these caravams works...
