Two-handed maces - Are they just lazy, or what?
The fact that there is such a lack of diversity in two-handed blunt weaponry when some of the most powerful weapons in warband were of such a class (see: Great Maul, Morningstar, Sarranid 2h hammer) is astounding. Is this just a ghastly oversight, or is there some legitimate reason this hasn't been expanded on? I can't imagine it would take much time or effort to rectify this, as there are already shared smithing parts between 1h and 2h swords. I know there used to be a mod to just add the 1h mace heads to the 2h blunt smithing parts, but it doesn't work anymore due to updates.

dunno maybe historical time line warhammer isnt there yet as warband is later in time line than bannerlord with plate armor and warhammer was design to deal with them

I would say you have a point, if maces didn't already exist. Chainmail and lamellar definitely exist in bannerlord, and slashing weapons were not able to cut through this type of armor - you had to either stab through it, or use a blunt weapon.

Yeah it's odd, I'm guessing it's a placeholder for the actual weapons(?) much like the old skills were, before they got updated.

That being said in case you care, there are a couple of options for 2h blunt weapons under the polearms tab too.

there's lot of blunt/mace weapons in the game, they are just rarely sold on the markets.
you could always craft a one hit kill long 2h mace as a blacksmith but glaives are better at doing the same thing.

Go look at the options for two handed maces in the smithy.

They do give vastly more love to swords, and to a much lesser degree, polearms. Can only imagine it's down to them just liking swords, because the differences between a lot of the parts are relatively minor rather than having lots of significantly different niches to fill.

It's like they burnt themselves out adding different sword options, many of which are cosmetic, and then just stopped short of improving the 2h mace category.

I loved big maces in Warband. Early on in Bannerlord, I ended up getting a classic mallet in a Tournament and "liked" it. I tried looking for better in the regular markets and came up empty. When I did my "Blacksmithing" run, just to figure out what all the fuss was, I couldn't find diddly for big, nice, two-handed maces. I wanted one... :(

I think it's because they may not quite have a good handle on what to do with blunt damage, IMO. Damage balancing has been an issue and there's not a lot of in-depth dev discussions there to figure out where they want to be, there. (Piercing, blunt, armor values, specific damage resistance, secondary effects like crush-thru/whatever, etc.)

If that's the case it's quite pitiful, considering warband's system was perfectly fine.
