Not sure if there is a mod that could do it with visuals. I think there was but I think it is abandoned now and I can't remember the name of it. Pretty much going to be trial and error and see what you get.
However, I still have no idea how to add an Item. I couldn't find it even though I searched a lot :(
but won't that make the game unplayable? I mean, it is no longer a game then, is it???
it's a trainer. Kind of like a "god mode" mod????
Let's look at it.
"I ONLY wanna give such n such troop a weapon, and ofc I am so honorable, I will ONLY give that troop a comparable weapon"
Sure, sounds cool. You wanna switch out the Valandian Sergeant's "fullered cavalry mace" to some Sword. Sounds cool. sounds fair. (ummm why do they have a Cavalry mace anyway? it's not like it's to kill cavalry, since their other weapons is a polearm)
But let's be real. If this was an easy swap to do. you'd have 99% of the people that take advantage of the swap doing this.
" so i'm gonna set all difficulties on SUPER HARD, I'm gonna not use any smithing, or workshops. I'm gonna fight only in tier 4 gear or below. I'm gonna show how gud I am. Oh, but I'm gonna make all Empire Recruits come equipped with Long Glaives, And Noble bows, wearing tier 6 armor sets". they will still cost 3 denars each.. but it should be super fair and fun".
I'm not saying OP is gonna do this, but there seems way too much temptation for people to just swap out gear and make game super super easy. Then get bored, then come to forums and trash it (Like all the cheat moders do.. "duh this gamez ez. I beet it in 5 years". ) Then 10 other cheat moders agree with them, how brain dead the devs must be, how simple this game is, How warband mods are the end all be all of perfect coding etc...
Personally, I hope it is VERY difficult to swap out gear, unless it is in a mod. (which most are basically Trainers anyway).
Edit; Actually that would be a pretty cool mod. You get to set your troops to have a selection of weapons. Like that Vlandian Sergeant. you want him having a mace? or a sword/ or maybe a thrown weapon... along with his BASE polearm. But not swap out top tier weapons on low tier troops. and keep the troops the same cost. Or worse put in EVEN MORE UBER modded weapons, and let the tier 3 empire archer, have a bow that hits for 160 per shot. etc
That would be cool to play, (when game is fully released)
each equipment set starts with "<EquipmentRoster>" and ends with "</EquipmentRoster>"
you have to replace the id after "item." with the id of the item you want to add to that unit
you can find the item ids in the xml files inside \Steam\steamapps\common\Mount & Blade II Bannerlord\Modules\SandBoxCore\ModuleData\items
its the easiest to search for the ingame name of the item you wan to add.
if you want this changes to be permanent and not overwritten by game patches you have to make your own mod module which contains a xml file that contains the units you want to change, however this will not replace the items a unit will use ingame, it will only add to the item pool of said unit. if you want to completely replace the items a unit uses you have to replace the unit with a new unit with its own unique unit id or do the changes in the main games npccharacters.xml which will get overwritten with patches so you will have to change everything again.
@RJboxer
well, i personally added kind of op units to pretty much every main faction so it kind of balances itselve out. :)
in fact adding/replacing units or thair equipment is incredible easy to do in bannerlrod, all you have to do is copy paste and rename stuff in a xml file and you are done.
actually that sounds pretty cool. Make combat harder for the player, since all factions have some nice OP troops.
But I feel many people won't do it that way.
Your idea sounds cool, and fun though. (in fact, I'd love it if there was an "expert mode" in Bannerlord. Like their "ironman". where you could click it. And all troops have next tier gear on them.. Only you are the same as normal.)
as I mentioned. "It COULD".
if it WAS EASY (that's my arguement) to modify the troops. I outlined VERY CLEARLY a scenario that people would be inclined to do, IMO.
Do I care if in a single player they make all their guys shoot Laser beams, for 10 million damage, and control dragons and zombies????? No. that's what mods are for.. have at it.
but I for one, get sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo tired, of reading NEARLY EVERY DAY. "this game is dumb, devs are stupid, it takes mods to finish game, they so dumb. it too easy, me finishds game in 4 years. easy, no even use troops. just me. game so dumb".
Or some variation of it. And that is only because they use Cheat code, and get super bored. Who wouldn't be bored if all u did was Ctrl Alt f4 win every fight. teleport everywhere. and take all fiefs. is it even a game?
So I outlined why I am GLAD it isnt as easy as "just plug and play this weapon into this troop"
I can EASILY see the same posts I just listed "bah devs sux, two stoopids" when they make all their empire recruits with full on tier 5-6 armor and weapons.
So yeah. it affects "anybody else".
YES
Just because you find something boring doesn't mean somebody else does.
most of my troops use high tier gear and melee weapons i put together myselfe using vanilla crafting parts. i originally started to add new troops because i disleked some of the outfit changes TW did with certain patches. Mod modules can not overwrite vanilla units outfits, they can only add to them so i started to add my own troops for the visuals and visual variety, for example vlandia in my game has 4 top tier crossbow units and 4 top tier longbow units.
most of the troops i added have 7 outfits they can spawn thair gear from, some of the archer units can either spawn with 2 quivers or 1 quiver and a shield. (within the same unit, not 2 seperate archer units) and some of the melee units can randomly spawn with a spear or without spear.
