Impossible to Mod Game

I've tried to mod this game for literal years. I'm using Vortex (I have also tried manual installation). The mods simply do not appear in the launcher, and when I launch the game, it's as if nothing is installed. When I try to deploy the mods, I got an error message saying "Deployment Failed." When I check the error logs/diagnostic files, the only error present says "-error: [game-mount-and-blade] failed to parse SubModule.xml." There are no results in any search engines for this error message, and, at this point, it's beyond science. I'm desperate for a solution, so if you know anything, please help, thanks!

Although you should install the Mods with Vortex DON'T start the game from vortex start it from the desktop shortcut then enable the mods ( at the top of the launcher below multiplayer there's a mod button start with 1-2 mod to begin with to make sure its working )

do you have your vortex mod staging folder and mod downloads on the same drive as the steam game folder? I have all mine on my ssd with hardlink deployment. It is certainly a problem on your end.
