I have always just become a vassal and then take over the kingdom when the current ruler dies.
Sometimes it happens naturally, sometimes I accelerate the process by inconspicuously planting one of my signature javelins into the king's skull after the battle when he's eternally celebrating a great victory against three looters, completely surrounded by his men.
The perfect crime.
Also back in the days, I downloaded the assassination mod just to test whether eventually i will succeed the throne when no one is in line. I literally murdered the entire faction and then the game was bugged and I still couldn't be king of the khuzait faction.
Not to mention that the entire khuzait faction would be relentlessly attacking my fiefs that I raided and took with my own army. Somehow the NPCs would recruit high tier army so fast. I couldn't win without cheats.
Thats not a "bug". that's how it is designed, and has been discussed, debated, and re-discussed 10,000 times.
Many people do not like it. Many people want tweaks to it. Personally I 'theorize" that they will tweak it to be more like Warband. But currently, there are way way way way way way way way way way more mechanics in Bannerlord than there were in warband. And some of them make it so you can Super Abuse the AI, if you were "always" up for vote. So there is code (someone posted it last year on TW forums, AND in steam forums) outlining what the AI looks for when it decides whos up for vote.
a "year ago" the game was much much different. heck, 6 months ago the game was super different.
Towns have always been decent at making gold. but TW specifically said they won't make passive income easy, since this game is meant to be around fighting. So fight, make lots of cash, smith lots of cash.. Set up a Workshop.. meh.. pretty lousy cash.
As to Khuzait relentlessly attacking. Yes this was a huge issue from Release and for a full year. Sadly, we had too many cheat mode noobs posting ridiculous fake nonsense in forums because they were too dumb to play it legit.. so didn't know this. . They'd argue in forums "khuzait no OP, git gud". And 10 other cheat mode idiots would back them up.
Finally Taleworlds ran some simulations (I think was 10,000 I cant remember) . and Khuzait won 85% of every match, and Battania the other 15%. They then figured out there was not only balance issues, but bugs that caused this. They took a couple months, but patched it all out. And for many many months now. Khuzait is not only NOT OP, I personally believe they are one of... if not the weakest faction.
In other words, no need to play on legit. see khuzait stomps the map... then use cheat mode Or cheesy tactics (like we all did) to over come it.
Now you can keep on legit, and still smash khuzait.. or if you know what you're doing BE KHUZAIT and stomp everyone else. (but it's harder. since cavalry/siege nerfs.)
Well to be honest no one wants to ruin the game with cheats. But a year ago the game wasn't sustainable. You need to take fiefs with good infantry (shield) --> take time to train from peasants to high tier infantry units --> towns dont generate enough income to sustain wages --> you have to keep fighting and lose troops to looters and repeat --> finally you have enough good infantry and bring war to a faction for their fief --> then you lose most of your top tier infantry in the siege --> minion lords start to zerg you and you cannot train good troops fast enough --> the rate of coercing hostage experienced troops to join you is slow --> even if you have full army eventually of high tier units --> your towns cannot pay their wages --> causing attrition issue -->it was not a sustainable economy for starting your own faction. Joining a faction was fine but it wasn't possible to inherit the throne, that's why the cheat.
Also heavy infantries still die fast to a larger pack of militias with shield and basic weapons, they are cheap to produce. A lot things weren't making much sense.
On top of that there was the issue with npc and player moving too slow on the world map screen with cargo weight, they could never catch up to Khuzait looters.
Too many issues then.
So instead they should just buff cavalries for all other factions
