How prosperous is a settlement. And how plenty is the ressource material.
For prosperous cities a good place to start looking is mostly the Empire. Or the ingame wiki.
For cheap material look what the villages bound to the city produce. Caravans bring in wares, too, but you do not want to be dependand on them. You could even provide the ressource by yourself, but we are too lazy for that.
Example: Vostrum - quite rich city, even at the beginning. Two Villages providing Grain. Build a Brewery.
Why do you choose where to become a vassel/king based on what part of the map the workshop is best? choose the once you like the most for other reasons.
But keep your already owned workshops in mind before declaring wars or changing factions. Worst case you gotta sell them and buy some new somewhere else.
Definitely prosperous town boast workshop income.
W/ wars and bandit lowers workshop income.
Workshop that needed to be avoid Smithy, tannery and wood. Those workshop barely produce any income. Those workshop suppose to produce decent equipment in the game so far is not worth it in my experience.
Especially limited Workshop you can have in Vanilla.
Have a Smithy in one of Battanian City with access to hard wood and to iron ore - income abot 250 a day.
in another town in the same kingdom have a very profitable pottery.
In one town I have a wood workshop and its good too.
So - just prosperity, save logistics for villagers and good access to ressources are the matter by workshops.
In 1.71 only wine press and oil press are not so profitable anymore - wine and oil both are removed from the list of meals and the consume is now extremely low accross all kingdoms.
Pen Cannoc used to be THE place to put a pottery shop, but that has changed a while back now. Wine presses are good in the Vlandian Valley between Sargot and Galend.
So I had absolutely monopoly for olive oil and it was worderfull - I was able to sail oil in different cities with high profit.
Today with current patch nobody wants them anymore. And wine and oil workshops provides about 50 to 120 dinari a day.
Guess you need to be very careful whom you want to serve and calculate business risks accordingly...
The request for wine is now broken - just seen, the count of wine avaluble in town Batlahan is 1(one). For 3K citizens! The price is about 160 dinari, but it doesnt sighned red at the market.
So, nobody consumes wine anymore. The same issue now with the olive oil.
galend, jaculan, sibir, argoron, lycaron, quasira, sanala, askar.
all what matters so workshops are profitable, be it +10 or +250 does not matter much in the end.
best places are safest towns in ally kingdom.
That is super low compared to wool and brewery.
Wool can produce 800 or more same thing with brewery.
