At what age will my character die??
Considering the options in sandbox mode for starting age and wondering which one is worth it. At how many days or how many years old did your character die?? Note that 365 days is not an in-game year. By my calculations a year is 85-90 days

You're very close. I believe a Calradian year is 84 days long, made up on four seasons of 21 days each.

As for when they die, none of mine have died yet. But I tend to restart every couple of updates, so my oldest was only around 40. It looks like they will last long enough for your children to come of age.

In my current campaign, both my original character, and his wife, have both died - I'm now playing one of their daughters. Fat Barry and Ladogual were 52 and 53 respectively at time of death. Good timing anyway - I was about to ask a question about this myself.

Ladogual is wifu material indeed, I had my eye on her as well :P

21 days per season is a good guess I think.

Ok so by my standards I think I'll go for the default campaign option. It gives you a 22 year old character with the stats equivalent to the 30 year old one in sandbox. I hate to think my character will die and some useless one I have no control over will take over, but I think I'll have grown tired of the campaign by that time if I start at 22.
Thanks :)

Hey, great minds etc; Ladogual turned out to be a worthy successor - and less fat and hairy. I dunno man, I'm playing sandbox - I started with Barry at the ripe old age of 40, and he did me proud. When he got the call, I was a bit upset, but then I warmed to the idea of a new character. Ladogual was already good, and was kicking ass from the get go. Similarly, I was reticent about playing some crap kid, but it's not all bad - in fact, it's pretty good. As they grow up, you get to prime them, and choose what skills they should be into. When you get to play them, their skills are low, but their learning limits and rates can be absolutely ginormous. With Gweth, their daughter, I forged two weapons she couldn't possibly have done well (smithing skill ~15), and she jump up to about 70. A couple more and she's a master smith. Same with other skills - bow and two handed - only a few battles in and she's very decent - gonna be better than her folks by a long chalk, and in short order. Stick with it - it's not as bad as you think.

That said, I am 27 years+ into this campaign lol.

You might have just convinced me. Another questions I have is do you keep your companions upon succession?

I guess, bc they are technically not really "companions" but clanmembers, me thinks..

Ah, yes, this is situational - if the heir you choose is currently in your party - then yes, you keep your party, troops, companions, and entire inventory. If the heir isn't in your current party, you lose pretty much everything. I had a tense moment trying to race back across the whole map to pick up Gweth, who I wanted to be the heir. I had her two sisters in the party, so they would have done as backup, but they didn't have the potential Gweth did. After save scumming a couple of times, I still couldn't make it. Then I hit on the idea of disbanding a current party, and making one for Gweth, then summoning her to my army, so she could meet me half way. This worked, but it was a very close call - I was dropping down to like 1 or 2% health. Half a day after the rendezvous, Ladogual croaked, and that was that. Nice bit of drama as an epitaph, though!

EDIT some point in, you're looking at your companions spontaneously dying of old age. When this happens - you don't get any opportunity to reclaim the expensive gear back - it's just gone. When they start approaching 50 or over, I think about giving them the push and sticking that Warlord helmet on some new blood.

See above - if the air is in your current party, you keep everyone in the party (including companions), and all your inventory. Your heir has lower starting stats, but way higher aptitude - it doesn't take anywhere near as long to get back to being good again.

Another way to mitigate having an heir outside your party is to go your nearest fief and drop any equipment in the stash. Won't save the army or your companions, but at least they get all the javelins you spammed.

Can I say 'spam javelin'? Okcheersthanksbye
