Propose alliance through marriage
What does it do? I tried once, nothing happened, then again I didn't wait long afterwards and loaded an earlier save.

its just marriage.

If your clan member is male, you can offer their hand. if the destination clan, has a female they are willing to sell, you open up a barter menu. you then, pay them money for the lady. its like 100k.
And that women joins your clan. (i'm not sure if some are combat, and some are non-combat. so far the ones I've done, are full combat enabled. can lead parties, govern, etc.)

if your clan member is female, the opposite occurs. they pay you, and she leaves your clan.

you get charm boosts, the husband/wife get charm boosts. don't remember if there is direct rep gains, or if there are hidden gains related. probably hidden rep gains, like getting married yourself makes it much easier to recruit the clan to your empire.

The destination clan must have an available male/female clan member to match up. which they might not. also, age matters maybe? dunno. when trying to marry off my brothers, did not have both listed every time.

If you have unmarried males, you can marry them and gain their spouse to your party.

This can come in handy if you need a governor of a specific culture to offset loyalty minuses.

My Imperial player married a Battanian lady to govern Car Banseth. He is now eyeing other Battanian cities, so he will probably try to marry both of his brothers to Battanian lasses as well.

I found that the clan you marry your spouse from will usually join you later when you create a kingdom and usually back you up on everything you do, so long as you don't do something that kills relations relation with them in the time between that.
