Mercenary contract - wages?
When I last played the game around release, I remember that when you offer a lord your services, that he will pay the wages for your troops. Yesterday I signed a mercenary contract but the lord told me that I would get like 90 gold per enemy troop killed.
Has this been changed or is my memory playing tricks on me?

I started playing in jun/july last year. If my memory is correct, for me, it has always been a price per engagement. The price is different depending on who I merc for.

I get influence for battles I fight and periodically that influence is converted into gold.

They give you a certain amount of money based on how much influence you earn from doing battles. Even if you're absolutely destroying enemies, it's pretty hard to earn more than a few hundred gold a day because there seems to be a hard cap on how much you can earn.
The wages are peanuts. It's the plunder that you really sign up for.

I think I've gotten up to around 45 influence with mad killing sprees, but the pay still doesn't cover the cost of your army for a single day. Only benefit is the loot and relationship boost from releasing enemy lords. You can also quit and join a different faction any time you want with no penalty to relations.
Mercenary pay definitely needs to be higher.

The Floris mod pack on warband is great for this. The king usually actually pays for your entire party until you start getting to expensive and then he still pays for about 80% of it.
