It does things in order -- First siege camp, then battering ram, then siege towers, then the missile launchers.

It will not build anything until the siege camp is done, then it will build one piece of equipment at a time.

Small clarification, after siege camp is built, the others are built in the order you queue them.

Before you get to the point where you are "clicking on the X's" you need to order them built.

There are small boxes on the ground with icons for the Ram and Siege Towers. There are 4 other boxes/outlines on the ground for you to select the actual siege engines. Click on and select the ones you want while the siege camp is being built.

NOTE: Once a siege engine is built, you can pause the game and select it. You will be able to place it in reserve. This allows the player to build all 4 throwing/shooting engines, then activate them all at the same time. Do this prior to starting the assault and your engines will pummel the enemies catapults/ballista. It is possible to destroy them prior to initiating your assault.

Since that is quite game breaking...why is this not the default?

Instead of current version where you make one siege engine and it gets immediately destroyed by the defenders 4.

It has always been that way. At least since I started playing, about a year ago.

how do you pause while making the siege camp? or do you mean the esc pause menu?

No, I mean press space bar. Pause the game after the siege camp is built, at the moment your siege engines are being built. You can do it while game is running but enemy will start firing at your newly built baliista, etc.

I do not find it ridiculous. You build the siege engines out of range of the defenders, then move them forward, together. This is accurate. That is what is being simulated. If people wish to build siege engines while under fire from the defenders, that is an option.

It is ridiculous because of how huge a difference it is from the default mode. Basically set-up that you have to use this method or making siege equipment is a wasted effort.

How do you control what siege equipment is made for defense?
I don’t want ballistas when I need onagers!

I dont think u can

i think it is a confirmed bug that siege engines cannot be chosen during defense. if you are not the leader of the besieging army then you cant choose the siege engines either
