It might require a new save but the benefits are worth it imo.
You can always revert from the beta without 'breaking' anything
In that case, the answer to 'Should I choose e6.1 Beta?' should probably be 'No.'
Bah nonsense - beta 1.61 is just as good a beta to try as your first as any!
Just a note:
You can, AFAIK at the time I'm typing this, migrate to the current Opt-In Beta and keep your current saved-game/playthrough.
But, you can not migrate back to the Steam Public branch (normal install) and keep that same saved game without expecting "issues." (Saved games are not "backwards compatible.") The same goes if you Opt-In for a previous patch version, like when attempting to keep your mods current.
For any TW claims of "fixing siege AI issue," I would recommend not sacrificing your playthrough on what may be false promises. Just my two coppers on that, but I don't trust such claims until I see a widely happy audience showering TW with "thanks." That hasn't happened since the first couple of weeks during this EA.
Wow. To late. Just did it. I will see if the Beta fixed the issue. If it did, I do not care if I can no longer use my saves on the regular install.
Thanks anyway though.
I apologise for not clarifying in my original response that once you took an existing save to the new beta - without a back up of said save you couldn't revert to a previous version with said save. I meant reverting from beta to another version wouldnt break anything - but not including ongoing saves; which now that I think about it, was primarily what you meant by does it break anything so yeah, my apologies!
Hey, if you needed to go to Beta to get what you wanted, it's no loss, right? :) It won't convert/change saved games that aren't currently loaded then saved over, so if you have alternate saves just don't save over them and you should be able to revert and reload those if you wish.
No worries. I tried the Beta and it works! The siege tower bug has been fixed! Thank You
Glad to hear it!
This is not entirely accurate. For many people, Most.. the beta is LESS stable. In fact, it is not uncommon to get hot fixes to the beta patch, while it is still in beta to fix crashes. And also, for it to be different (in regards to patches) when it goes to "live". For me, every beta has been less stable than the "Live" version.. but usually by very very little. So you should still be safe using beta.
As to "revert" this was a thing. But according to multiple people in forums the last couple weeks, it is not anymore. I've been reading over and over "hey, where did 1.5.10 go", etc.
Not sure if this is true, since some people in forums spew misinformation. on purpose or accident. but I'd do a bit more research before I go to BETA, if you are concerned about going back to the current "live" patch.
All that being said, I've played probably 6 of the "betas" and never had a problem, except a few minor bugs. You should be fine OP.
