Overall probably Aserai since all their troops range from decent to really good even under the AI.
The reason i said that is cuz i play them already and just everone picks them cuz theyre OP atm. The only factions i dont like are the empire and the sturgians.
I don't know about Battania being op, a decent cavalry force can cause them all kinds of havok and they don't have a very good answer. Their solid if you can get a lot of their unique archers, and keep them alive, and get to good terrain that lets them shoot but somehow protects them from cavalry, but those are hard things to do all at once.
Sturgians are quite a bit better in 1.6.0, unique units were added to more villages so its a lot easier to field more cavalry which even the AI does. Their pretty annoying to fight with cavalry now too since their most basic soldiers all have shields and pikes so its a lot harder to just mow them down.
I don't know whats going on with Empire. On paper their armies look quite good but they tend to get their #*## handed to them.
Thnx bro,
What do you think about the khuziat and aserai? Ohh and vlandians
Aserai are kind of like empire. They have decent units across the board, infantry, archers and both types of Cavalry but their not great at anything. For some reason the AI tends to do much better with Aserai armies than empire ones but I'm not too sure why.
Vlandians are odd. Mass crossbows are very brutal and they have some very strong melee cavalry. Both of those units need to be trained up though to be really good and all of Vlandia's infantry are kind of crap. So you end up with an army thats very strong if you get it trained up but is very hard to replace losses.
Well kinda overall, but especially in battle preformance... Like how does a full aserai or full vlandian army preform in all scenarios. Which does best if you count field battles, sieges, forest battles, hideouts etc.
Ahh i see , thnx :)
Yeah full nobles is strong and fun , but i want to use one culture specific for rp reasons
There's also the logistical advantage of having three times a much territory as the other cultures to replenish your troops in.
I think the reason that the AI does so badly with Imperial armies is because they are fighting on all fronts usually, and they never have very high tier units. Low level units are fodder for most armies, but Empire seems very vulnerable to this. They also don't have unit specialization until tier 4 (where Trained Infantry splits to Veteran Infantry and Menavliaton, and Trained Archer splits to Veteran Archer and Crossbowman), so they have no spear units and no crossbows until tier 4, where every other army seems to have at least some specialization at tier 3. Even their noble units are incredibly weak to start out with, with the Viglas not even being mounted units yet. So I think the issue with the Empire is that there high tier units are very powerful and very balanced, but until they get there, their low tier units are weaker.
If you're looking for what AI army seems to perform best, I would say the Aserai are probably the best performing one I've seen. Most of Aserai territory protected and generally doesn't get raided, so they have good access to replenish their armies. They also have an abundance of horses in their territory, and it shows with the abundance of cavalry that they field, most of which are actually horse archers because the common mounted Mameluke line ends in a horse archer. They also have a serviceable, if not spectacular, foot unit lineup, which can actually do a lot of damage if your troops get distracted dealing with the various mounted threats the Aserai can throw at you.
They are basically Battania (even their shields are tall and oval), but gave up overpowered archers for cavalry.
