I am not sure what this is about, I doubt Telaworld has any Server services currently being offered. A game development studios should'nt be hosting Data Centers, they would be under a completely different LLC, as that has some legal, tax, and cost implications.
Where is this? When or how did this occur? I don't play multiplayer, but I know of no current private-server hosting being offered by Taleworlds. If there is such a thing, could you post a link containing the information?
What I do know is that Taleworlds plans on releasing private-server hosting files so that players can host their own private servers. (Dev post)
IMO, if Taleworlds decided to contract with a host to arrange for private servers to be fee-based, that's not a big deal and it would seem reasonable to me.
As far as a "monthly fee" from players, not the server owner, is concerned, I'm skeptical that exists and if it does I would doubt it would be something Taleworlds itself did. Though, I can see them managing and maintaining player accounts to require log-in and a third-party connection in order to enable the sale of vanity items and the like, which was something they were thinking about doing. In any case, I doubt it would require a monthly fee as that is outside of the common monetization policies for developers who do that.
Someone who runs or "owns" a private server, however, does have to pay the hosting company unless they're running it on a server they already own.
Previous policy on monetizing private servers to offset hosting costs: https://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php?threads/private-server-monetisation-policy.376447/
If you're paying someone a monthly fee to play on a private server, provide a link with information concerning that private server and its host.
This is absolute nonsense. We aren't a server hosting company and we don't offer hosting services. The multiplayer servers we provide are entirely free to all of our players, and we plan to release the server files later down the line so people can also host their own.
When? its been a year?
Make it ten
