I have no problem with the game running smooth for 90% of the time, other than battles and some hiccups here and there.
However a few patches ago (maybe it was the 1.5.9 version?) opening menus, leaving towns, etc would essentially freeze the application for a few seconds. But since then I havent experienced it, but still nowhere near the minutes youre experiencing. Saving, loading etc takes maybe 1 second at the most.
My computer is in general fairly old, running an old i7 and gtx 980ti. But even at the lowest settings I can't run this game without lag in specifically the campaign map and menus, while I can without problems run the witcher 3, Warzone, and basically any other high end game without the slightest bit of stuttering at high settings.
I get that it's early access, but I can't for the life of me figure out how the ♥♥♥♥ you make menus with just an inventory system lag the game more than full 3D combat with 500 npcs...
What version of the game? I had that issue with the last stable patch I played (I think 1.5.9 or 1.5.10) but the beta versions have been solid in that regard.
Okay this is going to sound not so nice but will be trust me, already another person found that this has helped.
First what you want to do is to try and limit power output to the GPU you need to first check how many Frames per-second your Monitor can handle.
1. [Right-Click on Desktop], next go to
2. [Display Settings], then at the bottom click on
3. [Advance display settings] you'll see "Refresh rate (Hz)"
If it says that is 60hz then that is all you need for refresh rate on Bannerlord no need to generate anymore power to refresh your frames any faster than 60 as that is normal typical human being refresh rate.
After,
4. [right-click] on the Desktop again, and go to your
5. [Graphic control panel], mine is NVIDIA Control Panel under
6. [3d Settings] click on
7. [Manage 3D Settings] then select
8. [Program Settings]
9. [Select a program to customize]
10. [Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord] Launcher
11. [Add]
After all this, ajust
12. [Max Frame Rate] to 58 FPS if not already. Be sure Vertical sync is turned off.
You'll noticed that your GPU may not heat up as much. This is just one optimization out of many to keep your computer from over heating, even with the best graphics card 1000 man battles are a lot for a Computer at times.
Hope this has helped. Also recommend that you download the game on an SSD as there is constant rendering from the drive that has to happen, and if the game is on a HHD loading screens maybe longer than if you had the game installed on SSD.
why would battle.net be running?
Perhaps using the newer beta version is better, but I'm already fed up honestly, I already spent about an 1,5h on this today. Maybe I'll be back in 5 years when the game is ready for release. I got other ♥♥♥♥ to play in the meanwhile. Thanks for the tip though.
