Pointless use of development resources just because schools no longer teach how to read a map.
no no no how do u know where north is facing without a compass and i dont want to click into a menu to travel somewhere and a game with this scope should have no problem with resources they did it in warband so they can do it in bannerlord & in case u did'nt know schools teach to read maps with compasses.
A compass should definitely be lower on the programmers' list of things to do, but I'd like one eventually. Or better yet, just make a button that automatically realigns the map so that North is up.
I'd love to have one too so that I can orientate myself. I didn't realize how often I looked at it in Warband until it was gone.
When did I get "lost" in warband. ALL THE TIME in the Game of Thrones mod. It starts you upside down, and until you play a lot, you don't know the exact orientation etc.
As someone with Mild OCD, I hate when my map/screen/battlefield Doesn't look as it did when I loaded the game (orientation wise, which is why Sins of a Solar Empire which I love, gives me conniption fits).
This game, the Siege Machines cause you to rotate the camera a lot. a lotttttttttttt just to click the squares they are on. And sometimes it's difficult getting camera to the correct place OCD people like me want, I did learn... eventually How to fix it . No compass.
Zoom all the way out. On the left and right side of the map, you can see where the map "Ends", and the screen changes color. If the screen break is 90 degrees up and down, it's like it was at start, if it is off to an angle in any direction, it isn't.
So just zoom all the way out, look on side of screen, and make sure the "line" is straight up and down.
Compass problem solved. Now you can look at map, North is up, south is down etc.

I get the exact same way. The only problem with this method, compared to a compass, is that it takes a few seconds every time to orient yourself as opposed to like half a second.
edit: screenshot link was dead
