Spears on back?
Hallo there my dudes,

does anyone here know about a mod to hide the spears on units backs? It is oe of the most immersion breaking things in the game (in my opinion), and I am looking for a mod to just hide them. No fancy game play mecanics or stuff like that. Just let the spear disappear when put away and magicly reappear when switched to again. I am fully aware that this would not be too immersive aswell, but way better then 100 men running along with spears superglued to their armors...

What is this immersion thing of which you speak? I use something I like to call my 'imagination' and then I don't need a mod because my imagination tells me they are not there.

"Immersion breaking"

- nah man I just want weapons to straight up disappear in to thin air.

I'm sorry man, but I couldn't resist. XD

so you'd rather them have a spear appear from out of nowhere?

All of you have points there, don´t get me wrong. And I am not saying that it should be like that in the main game. I was just seeking for a mod to fullfill this request. I would just prefer to have astetically pleasing soldiers 99% of the time, and have to deal with one or two weapons disapearing n thin air once in a while.
For those of you who were around back in the warband days, you will remember that it was like that in the game. so back then the developers had the same discussion as we have now, and came to the conclusion that it would be better to have them disappear. (Not all polearms of course, but at least all lances and pikes)

I'm pretty sure the long knightly spears were not carried on the back. They were stored and probably given by the squires before the charge. It's indeed annoying to see a 2.5 meter thing behind your character all the time.

Yeah love to see it as well

I assume you mean your companions, as most rank and file spear-based NPCs would, you know, be using it. You could, you know, remove their spears in the equipment menu, swap them in if they are doing mounted stuff, for example.

Also, most/all maps spawn a chest next to you. You could make use of that to swap held equipment on the fly, assuming it allows you to change companion stuff out. I have never tried.

This guy has an entertaining take on the matter:

He trains people in historical European martial arts and he has a side business selling actual antique, medieval swords and weapons; so I'd say he knows a thing or two.

Its a good thought, but it ♥♥♥♥♥ with player convenience. Most people don't want to go find their epic fun weapon when they're done with the nitty/gritty.

I'd probably enjoy playing with a mod that does it, but I wouldn't develop it as part of a game because more people are going to complain about inconvenience than those who complain about how dorky a weapon on the back looks.
i too have been looking for a mod or game option for this.
