How do you actually play "BaghChal"?
for a game that's basically a take on checkers, it just seems like playing as the wolves is a waste of time for the first 17 turns.
the AI sheep player will go all round the outside of the board, you cant wait for an opening as the wolves, you have to move your tiles.
any opening you get is negated when you try to move for it as the AI will immediately cover it, and if you try to block a tile but then get forced to move, the AI then takes it.

the first move the AI makes leaves you with nothing to do, as you cant reach the horizontal or vertical lines, and the next move impedes you further by blocking a whole side from doing anything as it will be two pieces side by side against a wall.

Yes, you won't take anything much in the beginning of the game. Deal with it, position your wolves in such a way that you'll be able to make progress once your opponent runs out of room to place pieces.

its a case of getting to grips with it, just wondered if theres something particular i should be doing rather than clicking a tile back and forth until it becomes possible to take anything without being hemmed in.

What you've said is the golden rule to win. Also keep in mind wolves always should be the one to decide where the sheep are gonna be placed. Game starts as the first sheep is placed, not after all of them are placed. So force the hand of your opponent to certain tiles with your 3 wolves while making sure 1 wolf is reserve and free to roam. If you can calculate next 3 step the game becomes so easy.
