My vassals never fill their garrison
My vassals never fill their garrison of their castle. They only placed around 100 troops in the garrison of a big settlement. Too less, compared with other lords from other factions. The other settlements of the other factions have a garrison of 400-500! My towns are rich, there is enough food so I don't understand why I have this problem. In the past I had always big garrisons, done by my loyal lords. So did the devs changed something? I feel sad about this, because the garrisons are even losing troops slowly for no reason, instead of making the garrison bigger. I see that my lords travel to their castles, but they take away troops out of the garrison, instead of increasing the garrison.

Someone who recognizes this?

i think, if you are not involved in any wars, they will fill their garrison. so it depends more on time / boredom and less from money.

and you need enough villages with recruits (not raided).

I am in war, but my villages are never raided. I think they take out troops form the garrison, to fill their party. Because their parties lose troops due to war.

100 troops in garrison is a good amount. Too many and the wages will be too much for them to handle. Just look around at other AI castles and towns. Unless they are super prosperous, their garrison are small. I had to axe a bunch of my high teir troops I had in my garrisons becuase the taxes were not able to support so many. Now my garrisons are 50, and are moslty mid teir to keep wages low. Its because of the 1.4.3 beta economy. Its very strict.

Only garrison. Garrison with militia is around 1000 defenders.

Hum, that strange. I didn't think food would be enought to support 1000 garisson. Not without mod.
Try to look at the prosperity of cities. More a city is propser, more he give income, more the clan can paid troop. Or maybe just the IA increase garnisson very slowly and these cities were never attack before. It's the only explications I see. :(
You can alway donate troop to garnisson yourself. Not a very good solution but it's the only thing I can advice. :-/

The settlements have more than enough food and prosperity. But yes maybe they can't pay the troop wages. But I think they lose always troops in battle and then the lords take the troops out of the garrison to fill their parties. But that is not clever at all. They should first care for defense‚ make sure the castle is secure‚ before attacking‚ otherwise you don't have any defense and you lose settlements too easy then. I always fill the garrison properly‚ stay their‚ and then I recruit troops from the Tavern to fill my party. I never reduce the garrison‚ because that is stupid. It's like removing your savings-money and creating more and more debts on your bank account. In the past I gave vassals a fief so that I don't need to look after a garrison. Then I don't need to gather so many troops. But now the vassals don't do it any more. Lazy idiots‚ asking 3 million to be my vassal‚ 50% of them leaves instantly after I gave them the money and they can't even manage one fief. I think the devs changed something and that's why they don't fill the garrison any more‚ I mean not properly. Or maybe you are right‚ maybe the settlement's prosperity is still too low. Maybe the income of the settlement is then a bit too low‚ and that's why they can't pay high troops wages. But seriously‚ I always noticed the AI lords are always much richer than the player‚ especially after I gave them 3 million to join me..... Wtf is this.....
