If our factions are at peace, I leave them alone.
I look upon it as economic warfare.
I like to keep a mobile force with lots of cavalry and horses so I can catch them.
I am currently using a force of 69 (lol), 21 Triarii and the rest horse archers. Speed of 6.2 which is enough.
But how does it affect the reputations and does it give you negative traits? I would do it if there was no lingering bad side effect.
Two things happen when you attack a caravan. The npc who own's the caravan will be upset and you will lose rep with them. So that npc, where ever they are in the world caravans can travel everywhere, will not let you recruit any troops from them anymore.
If your a part of a faction, either a mercenary or vassal, and your at war, nothing else will happen. If your still on your own, not a mercenary or vassal, the faction the caravan came from will start getting angry with you. Once they get annoyed enough they will declare war on your clan.
So do as advised, only attack caravans that are apart of factions your already at war with.
