1. In 1.4.2, the game currently requires clan tier 4 to make a kingdom.
2. You can get renown fairly quickly by fighting outnumbered/large numbered battles and winning. With a particular perk that increases renown from battles (charm 50, I believe), you can easily gain 60 renown per battle. I used this strategy to farm the 6,000 renown needed for clan tier 6 and it did not take too long (probably a couple hours a day for a few days while also doing other stuff).
Outnumbered AND large numbered battles. I don't know the exact numbers required, but when I was doing this I had a party of ~200 (no army members because that lowers renown gain for some reason) and I was regularly fighting enemy armies of ~300+.
I *think* I recall gaining 60 renown for battles where I had only ~100 troops against other parties with ~150-200 ish troops (but that could just be me being sleep deprived).
Edit: Obviously some of these numbers are basically unobtainable when you're still clan tier 4, but you're not looking for 60 renown per battle and more for like 30-40 renown per battle (which is pretty easily obtainable with a party of ~80 ish fighting parties of 100+).
Edit: just seen your edit, yeah that's not true.
