Gold... useless?
I mean... seriously :D I have one castle and one city and i am already earning thousands each day. Like... cool, but it completely destroy game immersion.
What to do with gold? Upgrade troops for few hundreds? OK. Buy TOP Armor for dozens of thousads? OK. Buy caravans or workshops to earn more money? Why?
I mean at current state (when Merchant skills doesnt even work properly) i can easily win the game with guerrilla strategy (take army, start a war, capture one castle or town, pay gold for peace, repeat).

Same with influence btw. - everything is so cheap, even policies that costs 50 influence each, while some provide spectacular buffs.

It's not useless. It's a nest for Smaug.

Let it pile up.

Unless you plan to buy fiefs and bribe lords to join you whenever and wherever it is totally useless
Technech May 3, 2020 @ 1:45pm
Just buy the rest of the towns/castles. Prepare to pay 2-5 million for each (if you play on 1.3 Beta)

With that amount of gold you can run a presidency campaign and win.
vidgin May 3, 2020 @ 2:35pm
Welcome to Capitalism where all gold comes to single hands :D We need in game now: luxury food, luxury halls, luxury horses to spend our money for :)) Everything will be better than others have. Mount and Blade never has been so real!

The maximum earning potential of gold needs to be high enough to support you running your own kingdom, but it's not supposed to leave you with that much of a surplus. However, the 'running a kingdom' mechanic isn't fully implemented, yet, so many of the late-game money sinks just aren't there. Thus, yes, you CAN earn so much gold you can't spend it all in this game, but that's not because you're earning too much money -- it's because end-game stuff isn't incorporated, yet.

That said... supporting a garrison of 500+ Tier 6 troops in a settlement is a HUGE money sink, even in earlier versions of the game where money was even easier to get. And you need gobs of money for each proposed peace settlement, as well, so unless you're planning to conquer every country that declares war on you without any pause in the fighting, you're probably going to need at least some of that money.

Even in non-beta I sometimes spent close to a million denars on one lord buying out his all towns and castles.
Natius May 3, 2020 @ 2:42pm
Correction : its not Gold, its Denar
Meanwhile i have 20k denar each day with 5 caravans and 10 workshop with 2 towns and 2 castles all over calradia,i see denar useful for buy lord, force peace and buying food for my army

Still try to find Tier 6 mace for capture unique troops and tier 6 axe for easy gate cheese

Buying settlements, truces, and especially lords. In 1.3 lords count the price of all property they have to convert, so basically for a lot of time I could afford only hobo lords WHILE having over a million of money.
The economy is quite imbalanced currently.

I grew rich on selling shoes, invested in a few workshops and a caravan, then realized I could also sell hats and the usual helmet from tournaments. Then I joined southern empire, my boot and hat selling business impressed empress Rhagea so much that she let me marry her daughter and she even payed me for it. Then I started my career as a full-time warmonger and kept the boot and hat business on the side to support the upkeep for my army.

etc. etc..

now I have my own empire and I own 4 towns are 4 castles, and I have millions.

Late in the game I've also experienced inflation, sheep selling for 1k denars per head,
Sure there are some lords that might ask you for 800k while some ask you for 5k for them to join you.

Declaring peace is also way too cheap.

I can like wreak havoc in kingdom and take over, and then when they retaliate I'm like
"hey, here's 30k, we cool now right?" -yes!
