Resuming captured caraven
So I've spent 15k for setting up the caraven and at some points of time they are being captured. After that my companion just stays at a city for long and nothing she ended up doing. I thought there may take some times for her to set up the caraven again but nothing pops up. When I visit her at the city, there is only one available option which is asking her to join back to my party and nothing else. So I ended up earning a few thousands by spending 15k? Or did I miss something about resuming the caraven?

Only really worth it if you are not part of a faction and not at war with anyone. Caravans properly equipped should be able to keep bandits away but other lords not so much.

they were actually captured by mountain bandits :(

You will have to set up a new caravan yourself. If you use experienced companions you should make your money back, even make a good profit...but be aware, caravan leadership is not just about trade skill...many skills help...scouting, leaderhip, tactics, medicine, steward, maybe some others i have forgotten...

EDIT: I take a character that already has good trade skill, then assign them their own party to lead. after a while, they get good experience as commanders, and i set em on a caravan ;)

so nothing we can do if they are captured right? the caraven will be forever gone after being captured? and the only thing i could do is to hire a good companion for it to prevent capture happening

you have to get your companion back into your party, then buy another caravan completely. So spend another 15k to get it setup again. Its part of the process, you make money, until it gets captured, then you get your companion back and do it again.

Thanks for the response. so i could only prevent it from happening by equipping the companion well and hire the companion with good tactic and leader skills.

You cant prevent it from happening...even the best companions may occasionally come up against a threat they cant handle...but with a good companion you will tend to make a good amount of profit before it is lost. Also, in the latest beta build you can choose to spend 22500 instead and get better quality troops to guard it...i have not tested to see how well that works yet, but it is a nice solution

I literally recruit companions and send them to caravans anyway, no matter their skill. Probably only worth doing, when you have the "no companion limit" mod.
Basically, the 15k upfront cost is for the troops and the goods they want to buy so they can sell them elsewhere. If your caravan gets captured, all of it is obviously gone.

Game isnt really complete yet.

So caravan management is really bad.

When they are captured you have no choice but to find them and give them a caravan to run, every time. No fast remote "go run a caravan again, here's 18k". I just gave up on them after clan tier 3 and opted instead for 4 workshops making me all my money.

If captured yes, you have to let them rejoin your party, and go start from square one, paying another 15k for another caravan, there is no way to let them resume. They need you to pay for mercs and merch to sell so you have to pony up another 15k.

Caravans WILL be captured by even looters. The thing is atm caravans dont replenish their troops, they SHOULD take from their profits to replenish their numbers but they dont.

Every time they are attacked they never replenish their numbers but the latest patch did allow caravans to rest a while longer if they have many wounded troops. Also allowed for them to hire better tiered troops, you know, basic stuff.

Thats a hint to just how bad caravans are at managing attacks from even common looter parties. Its EA.

The work around at the moment is you have to babysit your caravans, check periodically how many men they have and donate more troops to them if they run low.
