[Getting voted to own major city]
I convinced other lords to give Dunglanys to someone else. It being a city where I own two shops I'd like to take it over obviously. I'd settle for a castle usually but they are almost devoided of any life and NPCs so I'm aiming higher. Problem is that I'm never an option when it comes to who can own it. Why ?

No help :(

Do you have any castles? if yes, then give them anyone else. Then go and siege any city. There will be BIG chance that you will be among the options. If not with one attempt but soon. The computer just don't want to give you another fief because you already have ones and other lords don't. So the computer put others without fiefs to vote

I own no castle at all and no city either.

No, it is just another non-sense. Only 3 options, more can't exist and of those 3 options, you might not be an option, even if you own nothing. Based on some random rng?
Maybe they will bring another interface for that later on.

So I'll never be able to use my influence to own a city I just have to siege ?

No worry then. To increase the chance you should lead the army who will siege the city. Or just wait awhile. I got the first city occasionally when I even didn't take a part in war and just did my deals.

But I don't care about sieging cities from other factions because I want the culture and people to be Battanian so I need to own one of the starter cities of the Battanians

That would be difficult to reach, but possible. :D Use your influence then :)

After joining the Battanians, I started donating all my prisoners into allied dungeons. This would build up faction influence.
Eventually, other lords wanted me to take responsibility for a mismanaged castle on the border with a rival.
Later on, through influence and schmoozing other faction lords, I would be granted ownership of a major city.

I also married a Battanian princess and would support my father in-law.

But my castle and my city isn't Battanian.

But that's the thing though I want it to be battanian not only because the location is very nice to look at it but also for culture and soldier reasons

Do you have reasonable relations with the king and other lords? If youve been getting into a negatives then you will not be considered until everyone else has a fief.
HarshHash Apr 27, 2020 @ 7:34am
You need relations with the king and influence in the kingdom. Before you propose the vote to remove who owns the fief don't just have enough influence to propose the vote then dump 300 on choosing who gets it, have more influence then anybody else in the kingdom.

Influence, is as the word we know it means, Influence.

It isn't just a currency the more base amount you have stockpiled the more literal Influence you have with other lords in your kingdom, much more so then relationships.

If you have the most influence, don't have any land and then propose the vote. It's not possible for you to not be on that page with majority support.

There is a limit on 2 cities and 2 (probably) castles. I have 2 cities and 2 castles and I, as a king, cannot receive more.

Well yes... For this you can use a mod, I think diplomacy revised. In game mechanic-wise, if you want the culture, you can get trade up and trade your captured, alien culture town with another lords' with local culture. Perk is "Everything has a price" and it's working.
Or get an army big enough and don't help the war effort, when I do this, my faction usually loses a town; you can recapture that lost town.
